Fixing format to add DJnk's info. Yes, you can do an early walk-in. I know plenty of people who've done early walk-ins at various CIS locations. I'm not familiar with yours but if it's not far from you, why not give it a shot? Edit to add: just make sure you bring along your bio appt letter & photo ID!

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback. In fact we did an early walk-in today at the CIS Raleigh/Durham center and finished the Biometric / Finger printing work. We were little surprised that no one even asked us why we are early and in 15 minutes all the work was finished. I recommend others to explore this opportunity in case if you are traveling or have conflict on the official Biometric date.

Still, I think it is nuts we both have to go out of state.

It is a little out of control. There has to be some way it could be streamlined.

People waiting from February is weird too. It would be nice if the government would let them know what's up.

Just saw in another thread that the processing time now states 6 months, and does not say 24th February at least.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Man it sure is ridiculous how far they're sending some of you for simple biometrics.

Yeah I think we are in for quite a wait :clock: After we complete Phil's biometrics, I'm gonna try not to expect any updates/news from USCIS until at least March... :innocent:

We aren't even expecting anything. If we hear something by March, cool. If not, no worries. Being together this time around makes the waiting no big deal. :D

That's the truth for sure :) All the same I find it a slow and cumbersome way to do things, and in much need of a revamp.

It all seems so unnecessarily repetitive to me. By the time we get as far as we have into the process of immigration it seems a bit silly to start back at the beginning. We have completed the K1 process, the NVC process (we were there in extra checks for nearly 8 weeks) the consulate interview process, the AOS process, so you would believe we had clearly established that we are not criminals for heavens sake. They must keep it all on file, so why ask for it all again?!? Having sent them a copy of our 2 year cards, with photo and fingerprint on it, could someone not please take it as read that we have already passed all this scrutiny? Does every man and his dog need to run this again?

Here is a fairly typical response to a service request for being outside the normal processing times.

Type of service requested:

-- Outside Normal Processing Times

The status of this service request is:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required security checks remain pending.

Until the security checks have been completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These security checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the security checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact us by calling our customer service number provided below.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I am not looking for anything for longer than that. We just seemed to be one of those lucky couples that drew the short straw all along. Yanked out of the queue at NVC when they started subjecting K1's to extra scrutiny. At AOS we were delighted to get transferred to California, only to find that suddenly instead of the 'quicker processing' everyone else got, we had a wait of nearly 6 months, and others just behind it hit that roadblock as well.

I think I am going to wind up being one of those people that are eligible for citizenship before the GC ever appears. But I am not interested in that.I wonder if the grant extensions on their year extension

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Just so you know, this is not a typical response. There are no other matches in the ROC forum for this response. A typical response says that the case is in review and to wait 60 days.

I posted it because I had not heard of anyone getting this response before, I got an unusual response for the delay in my biometrics appointment too. :bonk: I was searching the ROC forum to see if anyone else had got this response and only your post came up. Normally it doesn't specify that you're being delayed by security checks and says to wait 60 days not 6 months. Hopefully none of you are told to wait up to 13 months for a decision! Good luck. :)
