Ah, good advice! I probably wouldn't have considered looking at that detail in my excitement to find something. I'm sure he would inspect these things though if I didn't, since he's more familiar with this stuff. Vegemite is probably the main "want" item at this point, and if World Market has it, then we'll be set. ^^ It's only about 20 minutes away.

http://www.worldmarket.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3624360 my husband thinks it's a cruel joke. Do you like it?

I don't care for Vegemite myself. He made me try it and I almost gagged, lol. Then he brought some with him and made my family try it too. My dad made such a funny face when it went in his mouth! He said "this must be what dog food tastes like." I think every one of us spit it out. It must be an acquired Australian taste. =P Of course, I'm super picky anyway and don't even eat spreads like jam/jelly/etc. The only thing I can stand is regular butter or peanut butter. I don't even eat sauce on my pizza, lol. Everything must be "plain" for me, with no spices or seasonings or surprises. I am extremely wary of anything new that I eat, so trying to find foods in Australia that I might like was a cautious process. Especially him trying to explain this to his family. "No, she won't eat that, it has vegetables on it." "No, that has pepper, she won't touch it." "Nope, that has sauce." "No, she won't eat a baked potato, they have to be chips." They were finally like "Well what DOES she eat...?!"

My husband likes to say "It's concentrated yeast extract! It's like eating what's left over in your beer bottle after its sat out for ages". Or he says it's salty soy sauce.

I'm TOTALLY like you in the "don't like trying new things". I LOVE my tomato sauce/ketchup. i hate most vegies. I'll eat a baked potato only if I dig out the potato, eating the skin is wrong. I've been let down so many times by #### food that I'm really wary of anything.

The only way I find, that I can explain the acquired taste Aussies/Kiwis have for Vegemite, is by comparing it to Rootbeer. why oh why would you drink stuff that tastes like heatrub?!

I don't love Vegemite, but I will eat it occasionally--really, only because it makes my husband happy. He loves it and has it most mornings. I think of it as spreadable bacon.

Tim Tams make up for most anything. Best cookie ever. Also, I developed a taste for ginger beer.

Congrats! I hope you get your interview date ASAP. Sounds like the NVC has gotten moving again. We're also waiting on our interview date as of today, just got our case complete.

Are you attending the interview? I always love visiting Sydney; such a gorgeous city. Darling Harbour is my favorite placename ever, because it sounds so beautiful when said in an Australian accent. Can't wait to be back, though I hope the weather will be a bit warmer by the time of our interview. I'm hoping for September.

If I could afford a plane ticket out there, I would have been there long before this point, lol. I'm getting desperate. But we're trying to save all our money for AOS and moving, and other expenses we'll have to deal with. I'd love to take another trip to Australia, and I know I will at some point down the road to visit his family again. Some of them are coming for the wedding though. =) That should be interesting. His mom is staying at my grandpa's house just across the yard. I have a feeling she's going to be stuck watching a million home videos. =P We'll have to keep rescuing her and taking her places.

I know what you mean about Darling Harbor and the accent! Although, I just love that accent no matter what they say, lol.

You're hoping for September for the warm weather, and my fiance is hoping to be out of there BEFORE the heat starts. He likes the cold better.

Every time I hear an Australian say they hate the heat, I'm just like "whhhhhhhhhy!!" I LOVE the Australian heat! I just love summer weather all around. You can't do as much in the middle of winter. )= Like swimming, bikeriding, hiking, geocaching, bonfires... Although, I do have to say that autumn is probably my favorite time of the year. Not too hot, not too cold, and I love the autumn atmosphere. We're hoping/planning to have a harvest wedding in October. ^^

Well, I don't really like any type of outdoor activities, lol, maybe that has something to do with it? I knit and so spend a lot of time just sitting inside doing that, or out and about going to yarn stores and markets etc. Plus, I prefer to go out int he rain rather than the sunshine. Not sure why really, maybe I'm just weird, lol.
