Confusing or what......?

Our petition was approved on 14/09 (NOA2), and I am investigating the next steps. I found this on the USA embassy website for Australia with the heading "Once your petition is approved". Does this mean as per NOA2?? Can I approach the embassy directly from now on as per the instructions?? No mention of the NVC process anywhere - unless the approved petition refers to NVC case complete.

Here is the link:

Now I am confused..... Can I bypass the NVC and jump to the USA embassy steps??

Immigrant Visas

Once your petition is approved

The visa applicant should complete and return form DS-230 (Parts I & II) as soon as possible to the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney. We can only accept original forms, not faxed or scanned copies.

When you have obtained all of the documents required for your case, complete and mail all of your documents (do not fax or scan) with Form DS-2001 & Overview Instructions to advise the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney that you are ready for your final visa interview.

Mailing address:

U.S. Consulate General

Attention: IV Unit – PKT 3 DOX

Level 10, MLC Centre

19-29 Martin Place

Sydney, NSW 2000

Due to the volume of applications that are processed at the U.S. Consulate, you should send all required documents by a traceable envelope (ie: express post platinum, registered post) to ensure it is delivered and received by our office. Ensure you keep the tracking number when posting the required documents. You may track your envelope for delivery by checking your tracking number on this link with Australia Post. We are unable to respond to email inquiries requesting confirmation of documents.

You will need to go thorugh the NVC process (submit the affidavit of support by the US Citizen and Visa application by the Foreign Citizen). Once the I-130 petition is approved, call NVC at 603-334-0700 (press 1 and then 5 to talk to an operator) and get your NVC Case Number and Invoice Identification Number - these are needed to pay the required fee online. Read these guidelines given in the link - look at all the sub links at the bottom of this page.

I understand your confusion because I got an email today from them saying something completely different to all the other information out there about the DS 230. Basically telling me you don't have to submit any documents with it??? Very very confused now myself (see post about the childrens forms).

That is interesting. Can you copy the text of the letter removing the personal information - like to know what is the reason for this. Thanks.

Dear Madam:

Thank you for your inquiry. Please be advised you need to wait until you receive the initial set of instructions (Packet 3) before you can complete the forms. However, you have mentioned about sending in documents with the children’s Form DS-230S. Form DS-230S are not submitted with any supporting documents. We are unsure of what you are saying about the documents for the children. From your information, are you waiting for the pending Petitions (Form I-130S) to be approved. Therefore, the petitions have been lodged for you and the children. Your marriage certificate and divorce decrees are not required to submit with the Forms DS-230S for the children. They should be included when the petitions were lodged. You need to clarify what exactly you need to know so we will try to assist you to the best of our knowledge.

Sincerely,

(RST)

You got this response as you contacted Sydney Consulate directly regarding children form DS-230S. They are right in stating that those documents (marraige & divorce certs) are not required with children packets - those will be sent with spouse packet. You will have to go through the NVC process and you will have to contact NVC to get the NVC Case Number and Invoice Identification Number.......
