I am so HAPPY right now.. and so glad that this part of the process is over!

I woke up around 4:30am after a restless sleep! I arrived at the Embassy around 6:30am and I was the first in line!! Around 7:00am the line behind me kept getting longer and longer! The guard opened the doors around 7:30-7:45am and asked for my appointment letter. I had my accordion file folder in my laptop case... and this was an issue, keep in mind that all I had in the laptop case was my paperwork and my wallet. The guard looked at my appointment letter and told me that I could not go in because the bag I had was too big, I proceeded to tell him that I only had my paperwork and wallet in there, he didn't care because it was not considered a "woman's purse". He told me to bring it back to the hotel and come back and see him once I did. Lucky for me we parked just up the street, so it didn't take me long to run it back to the car. When I came back he allowed me to go to the front, he looked at my appointment letter again and then allowed me in... Phewww, let me tell you these guards are very very intimidating!

So next step was to go through the metal detectors.. these guards seemed kind of annoyed but whatever!! I was instructed to go downstairs and wait. Once downstairs, I was surprised that there were only 3 other people that had gone through ahead of me.. I sat right next to the elevator as instructed by many of you to do and once the guard came down to get us, I was the first in the elevator and made my way to the back doors!

We arrived on the 19th floor and were instructed to get in line, I was the third in line as there were 2 older woman I let go ahead of me (I figured a good deed wouldn't hurt :)) At this window, I was asked for my appointment letter and I was given a number C-3. I sat down in the first row right in front of the screen where the numbers come up.

About 5-10 mins pass and I was instructed to go to window #10, the gentleman there was very friendly and joked around, he asked me for Medical, Passport, Passport Photos and he took my finger prints, then asked me to go back and wait for my number to be called again. Again about 5-10mins later I was asked to go to window #11. At this window she gave me back my x-ray and passport photos and asked me for my Criminal Check, I-134, letter of intent, W2 and letter from Darrell's employer confirming his employment. I had Darrell's LES, Tax Return and Bank Savings but she said just the W2 was fine. I was instructed to go back and wait again while my file was being reviewed and that my number would be called soon. Another 10-15 mins past and I was called to go to Window #8, I was greeted by a very pleasant and soft spoken lady with dread locks :) who asked me to raise my right hand and swore me in. She looked through my paperwork and asked me to sign my name on one of the forms that I had sent in .. I can't remember which. She then asked these questions: 1.) How did we meet 2.) What my fiance does for a living 3.) How he proposed and 4.) When do we plan on marrying. She then handed me a "Welcome" letter and said I was approved... YAY!!! I wasn't even asked for any proof on a relationship!!!

A HUGE HUGE HUGE THANK YOU to all of you VJers....Especially Alexis and Jeannie, I couldn't have done it without you lovely ladies!!!

You were right, it is fast.. I was out of there by 9:00am, most of the waiting was because I arrived supper early.. The actual interview was about 7 mins if that... (Didn't even have to pay for parking since you don't have to pay until 9:00am :) )
