The fist thing you need is a marriage certificate, the letters from friend and neighbors is secondary.

I understand that it is a good idea to have the marriage license. what concerns us is that in the judges office it might be considered different than the church. We know that we will be married just the same but how to have proof for being married in the judges office. all kind of pictures showing you both, with friends, family and different places, call records, plain boarding passes, everything you have to show that you have an ongoing relationship. It doesn't matter if you didn't have a religious ceremony as long as you are married.

The judge's signature on your marriage contract is a valid proof that you two are married. Same thing with the witnesses', if any.

The judge is the person performing the marriage. No need to get an affidavit. Without him there would be no marriage certificate. A valid marriage certificate is proof that you've legally married.
