Hi everyone.. Do we submit the federal tax return or tax return transcript with the I-864? I obtain the free transcripts for the last 3 years recently and just waiting for them to mail it to me. Which one is preferred for submission for the I-864? Is it necessary for me to request for a federal tax returns and if yes, how do i obtain them? Is this the one where in you actually download a form and pay the $57. Thank you as always for your replies.

You have a choice; you can submit the tax return with W2 OR you can submit the tax transcript.

• If you are paid monthly, use this formula: monthly salary x 12 = amount for that line.

The current Poverty Guidelines can be found here. Your income must be at or above 125% of the Federal Poverty Line or a joint sponsor will be required. For a household of 2, your income must be at or above $18,387 for the year.

• If you are paid monthly, use this formula: monthly salary x 12 = amount for that line.
• If you are paid hourly, use this formula: hourly rate x 40 x 52 = amount for that line.

Just a quick note for the formula if you're paid hourly. That x40 depends on how many hours you're working a week. It's not always 40 hours. Some people only work part-time.

I must have been half asleep when I made that post and I was thinking from a full-time mindset.

Just didn't want someone who was also half asleep and took your formula who worked over or under 40 hours and completely messed up their I-864.

We submitted both the tax return transcripts and the tax account transcripts due to the fact that we had refiled on one year due to an error and it changed our original return. Tax return transcripts are the neater way to go imho. Best of luck!!
