My fiancee is 4'9", so I'm thinking a small car will probably be the ticket. Since she has never driven a car before, I'm going to say a manual transmission is out of the question for her first car. Not that I think she couldn't drive it, but it would be better for her to focus on the basics of driving instead of having to deal with changing gears.

yup!! definitely....

My older sister was 4 feet 10 inches at her tallest. She is 77 years old now and no doubt shorter because of old age shrinkage. She had driven Cadillacs for years. I don't know how she adjusts the seats, or if she uses pillows or what, but she loves her Cadillacs!

Are there any under 5' ladies here that have found a particular car that suits your stature?

Thanks!

My wife is not under 5' but her car is a Toyota Yaris and I think it would work well for a shorter driver. It has a particularly large windshield and the instrument panel is in the center of the dashboard so it makes the dashboard in front of the driver quite low and easy to see over. Check it out. It has been a good car, good gas mileage, and drives like a go cart, very responsive handling and super easy to park. Alla loves it.

I am 4'9 i think and my first car and still using now is an HHR SS. I love it coz it's cute and i can reach the pedal since i can adjust the sit up and down forward and backward.

I went to a driving school but i learned driving the best way thru the xbox driving assimilation game.

My friend who is also 4'9 drives a toyota rav 4.

I'm 4'11" and I drive a 1993 Mustang. I wouldn't recommend it for an inexperienced driver (though I've only been driving for 3 1/2 years) but I do just fine. Having rented my fair shared of cars in the past 3 years, I can tell you that most modern cars are very easy to adjust for even really small people without the need for pillows or blocks on the pedals. I was really disappointed when I couldn't drive my dream car -- a 70s-era SL class Mercedes convertible -- because I couldn't reach the pedals. :( However, I think most of you will be looking for something more modern, so don't be too worried about exactly how big the car itself is, just how adjustable the seat is. :)

THAT is the M4 Medium, an early one actually. My father was a tank commander in the 1st Armored and later 3rd Armored and later an instructor at Ft Knox. I had no choice but to know my tanks.

Mine is five foot even, and she drives a toyota truck and a subaru around just fine. She does not like the manual subaru and bought an automatic for herself, but the gas mileage isn't as good. That is a reason to drive a stick shift. WAY less costly to fix a stick shift too.

She actually is driving this 'dozer, and does bobcats, four wheelers, and snow machines too. The dump truck is a little tricky with 15 gears but she could probably do that too - Filipinas are just as skilled as anyone behind the wheel. They just look a lot better doing it.
