CS and form I - 693

I was just reading information about the form I -693 and the requirements there. I read on older posts on VJ that people are being ripped off by the CS`s. First what i want to ask is " Do we have to do the whole thing with some of the CS who are on that list at USCIS?"

To avoid confusion, i got here on K1, i arrived in mid july and we just got married.

Im looking at my DS-3025 where is says results and it says the following " Vaccine history incomplete" "Applicant may be eligible for blanket Waiver(S) because vaccination not medically appropriate (as indicated above).

What do we need to do? Fill in the first part of the form I - 693 and print it out and then take it to the CS to complete it, who will pop-out on that USCIS list ?

I read that some of the CS`s ask for a lot of money and we are trying to save as much as possible for the AOS, so we are looking forward for any advice you may have for us.

Thank you all

Call around to the civil surgeons in your area, listed by USCIS, and ask how much they charge for Vaccination transcription for immigration.

No matter how many of them say you need a full medical YOU DO NOT !!! you only need the vaccination portion transcribed.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

S-Bone: In (I believe) the AOS forum is a thread called "Civil Surgeons that WON'T Rip You Off" or similar. It has many pages, but look through it to see if an honest CS is in your area.

The U.S. is a lovelier place now that you are here, si man. :)

Definition for the Day (pertinent to the RUB forum): Civil sturgeon, n. - a polite producer of edible fish-eggs.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The bolded section is key to what to ask for. Call around; we paid $100 each (maybe was a bit high but was within the budget and was close to home) and included both the 693 and the 3025 in our filing. No problems.

Civil Surgeons tend to be parasites like attorneys. The problem is, even though you DO NOT need another full physical, a CS can simply require that you pay for one in order that he/she completes the form for vaccinations, if you do not like it...too effin' bad for you!

The advice to call around is good as the rates will vary widely and it may be worth a two hour drive to save $400 or more.

If you had a DS3025 with a COMPLETE vaccination history you would be fine just to send that (That's what we did for three people and had no problems) and it is why I strongly recommend foreign fiancees get this taen care of before they come.

In theory, you can get the vaccines anywhere and take the record to a CS and pay them just to fill out the form and sign it. In practice, the CS wants to rake in some easy money off it and will ram it up your butt for all he can get. Alla and I actually worked with Senator Leahy last year to get this changed but the change was incorporated into the Leahy-Menendez immigration bill which has gone nowhere. The change would allow ANY U.S. doctor to sign off on the I-693.

I would differ with this statement. From what I have read it's about a 50/50 chance that one would pull an RFE........this is why the VJ Guides suggest to to the 693 along with sending the 3025.....virtually no one has pulled an RFE when both forms are sent in (unless USCIS loses them!).

I have heard of people getting an RFE for this and know of one in particular. His wife actually had all the vaccines and he sent the DS3025. He got an RFE and he wrote back with another copy of the DS3025 that she had all the vaccines. They denied his wife's AOS!!!!! I got in contact with Senator Leahy who jerked some knots in people at USCIS and came to find out she did have all the vaccines but the form did not have the "vaccinations complete" box checked! They sent her green card within a week after he contacted them. This is what got us working with him to change the law, unfortunately the change got put into a mega-immigration bill that will probably never pass the way it is written. He has said he will try to offer the change as an amendment to some other bill in the future.

At any rate, you are correct, they may still get an RFE but we did three AOS's with just the DS3025 and had no problems. And so have many other people

Tnx guys for all the advices you have for us. Its very confusing, but we will start calling tomorrow and see how much they ask for it. The thing that is frustrating is that we paid money to the clinic at my country and they said "you are fine, you dont need any vaccines" and then we look at the form, and what do you know, its incomplete. On the DS 3025 it says that some of the vaccines are age unappropriated , but i still think they may ask for the I-693.

I found the thread concerning this forms and im trying to get as much information as possible.

Here it is, in case someone else may need it.

Good luck everyone and tnx

That is what we did. Just sent in the DS 3025. Of course I made sure she got her missing vaccinations at her medical (MMR). No problem for us. I figured if we did get an RFE, no problem. Then we would go to the CS.

That's interesting, mine doesn't have the "vaccinations complete" box checked either.

Any thoughts on whether Lena will need to have her vaccination records translated first before visiting a CS to complete DS-3025? Of course I can't decipher her record in the Ukrainian language. I'm afraid that she will need a couple more America specific vaccinations. Thanks.

Thanks for the info on this thread.

My DS-3025 was marked (application will defer vaccinations) on a Tdap and MMR.

After reading all instructions I was aware I had to make an appointment with civil surgeon, they will administer the two vaccinations and sign the relevant parts of the I-693.

Getting to the civil surgeon, they seemed to think I would need all my vaccinations and bloodwork again, of course costing me $$$$$ (covered on husbands insurance but even so!!) as I had "no proof this had been done". I know POE Immigration took my medical records, they did however give me back the CD which only had my chest xray on it.

I know I dont need them all!!!! Where or how can i convince the Civil Surgeon of this!?!??!?!?!?!

Help my a ppointment is today......

Just refuse them. You don't have to get them. Have the CS sign off on "only XXXXXX administered."

Or, go to a different CS.
