Hi, I'm Rose (Argentina) and my boyfriend (Wisconsin) and I are thinking about going ahead with the K1 visa. We just need to know a few more details before we start the process. Such as how long the work permit takes? Cause I would like to know how long I am going to be out of work after I get to the US. I would appreciate any help!

It takes 70-90 days after you marry and file AOS. If you want to work faster, then marry quickly after entry and have the forms ready to send out asap. Good luck!

8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

No, unfortunately not.

and there is no way to make that faster? i dont know how i would afford to not work for that long

01/23/23... interview scheduled for 02/28

also please keep in mind that we have about 35 million unemployed people in the U.S. right now. So even with an authorization to work you are competing against many Americans with U.S. work history and might have a hard time finding a job that serves your needs.
