Okay , by some chance, I get lucky and VSC randomly picks my Fiancee visa for approval and we move on to the interview , I know what of the standing requirements is that I can support us. OK, but what if I am moving between jobs and yes we are in a bad recession and my job status is pending but what if I have a very substantial amount of money my bank / savings which is able to support someone for 3-4 yrs, will this be accepted?

If your income does not meet the requirements of 125% above poverty level, you can use your saving/assets to make up the difference. The savings must equal 3x the difference. For example, for a household of 2, 125% poverty level is $18,387. If your income is $10,000, you need saving in the amount of $8,387 x 3 or $25,161.

Visa approval happens at the interview. Petition approval occurs at the service center.

How long have you had this substantial amount of money in your possession? That would be the information that the CO at the embassy would want to know.

I also used assets as most of my income and the CO in Morocco never questioned this amount at all...but I did have proof of where the assets came from if the CO needed the info.

I believe its difference when it's FIANCE vs. MARRIED

"When assets are used, the assets must equal 5X the difference between the annual income and the

needed 125% of the poverty level, this is because the affidavit is in effect for 5 years. For instance, if you

needed $15,500 income and had an annual income of $13,500, you would need an extra $2,000 of assets for 5

years, or a total of $10,000 in assets in addition to your income.

Once married it's 3X times

3 times in either case.
