Hi guys!

Well... I have some doubts in those questions on DS230 form...

Sorry people... DUMB questions...

Question 22:

Employer - OK! >> LOCATION - "full adress" or just city?

In what occupation do you intend to work in the USA? - WHAT?!??!

What should I answer that?

Thanks a lot guys!

Dinha,

The full employer address would be best.

What is your current/past occupation? That is what they are asking. If none, write "none".

If you answer "none," it might raise questions about you becoming a public charge. Better to say something broad, such as "retail industry," which could be a job at a supermarket, mall, gas station, etc. Or, "service industry," which might be childcare, cab driver, landscaper, etc.

Jersey Girl,

It is not the responsibility of the beneficiary to prove income or the potential for it.

That requirement falls upon the Petitioner.

Right, but the question is for the visa applicant, and asks which occupation he/she intends to pursue. It's not binding, but it's an indication that they plan to contribute to their own upkeep. Of course, you're free to answer "none," which can be interpreted as: "I have no plans to work and will let the sponsor carry the load."

Agreed.

However, there is nothing wrong with that. I have offered the option to my Fiance, to work or not. Although she has a successful career history, I can and will happily carry the load.

Dinha,

Sounds like an appropriate answer for you would be something like 'to be determined' - unless you don't have any plans to work, in which case say so.

Jersey Girl,

You have an over-active immagination. The public charge issue is defined in the INA and is addressed by the requirements embodied in I-864.

What's "better to say" is to say is, as always, what one's intentions are whatever those intentions might be at the time. Second-guessing questions and trying to 'out-think' the case officer is not a good habit to get into.
