One week left and I am off to Athens, Yipppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I went to Staples the other day and bought a nice binder and separator insert to put documents into and labels on the side of each separator.

I will be putting in our entire K1 visa application and required documents that were sent in March.

I will be putting in copies of my flight receipts, copies of my cell phone bills, copies of emails and our engagement announcement on theknot.com

All of this will be handed over to my fiance. I will be talking to his sister next week and asking her to help him when we are approved and he gets the check list in the mail Package 3. She is a school teacher and very organized and since I know my fiances track record of NOT being organized, she is ideal for keeping him on task.

I have already emailed my boss to provide me with a letter about my employment.

I went to my bank and they said they charge $25 to do the letter of proof of my accounts but they said at Citibank if you call the customer service number they will send it with no charge. Cool!

Also, when I get to Athens I am getting the remaining documents for our RFE and sending them from Athens to the Vermont office via courier. Making a set of copies for me and leaving a set of copies for him in his lovely new organized binder. With pretty color tabs, haha!

I can't wait to get my fingers on these documents!!!! I have been waiting since our RFE notice in late April for these documents. 5 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First I think I will kiss them, then I think I will dance around his home singing and chanting while I hold them up in the air. Then, off they will go to Vermont.

Like I said, ####### OVERBOARD here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just talked to my father and told him all that will need to be done after the APPROVAL NOA2 and he is blown away from all of this. I said, "Dad, I have never had to fight so hard for something or someone like this before in my life" and my dad said "And it will all be worth it".

God Bless everyone on this journey we all are on.

Updates soon!!!!

Not meaning to burst your bubble in any way, but was there a date on the RFE by which you had to have any documentation etc to them by?? Reason - Generally an RFE must be complied to by a certain date otherwise a petition can be denied.

Wenchie, she got an extension on the RFE (!).

Bunny, if I may respectfully give some input (and first, and aside. Back in my day, there were a bunch of us at the other group who called ourselves the "AR CLUB" where AR = ####### Rententive---it *is* heaven for us types!).. yeah, the input.

The interview itself goes very quickly. In typical Greek fashion, the questions come fast, loud and with a crabby look on the face. Papers should be VERY easy to put hands on---I found that the things I put in plastic sleeves were a problem because of the time to get them OUT of the sleeve to hand over. The interview windows are like a high security bank window---there is a very narrow slot at the bottom to pass your papers through. There is general bedlam in that room, a lot of noise, and it's hard to hear the COs, plus you're sort of nervous at the time. I also had the heartbreaking experience of watching every tab, color coded sticky and paperclip stripped off of my submission in front of my face---and saw them thrown in the trash.

My best investment was an acordian folder--lots of separated poskets, but very easy to get your hand into to grab what you want. Docs also have to be presented in a specific order, and wouldn't you know, it was NOT the order of the list I was given ahead of time, so too much preparation was my undoing.

Sorry if it sounds killjoy; you already know I wish the best for you in Athens and can't wait for your good news. :)

I had a similar experience to Meauxna in Canada - all my nicely organized, plastic sleeved colour tabbed documents actually were difficult to get out in the order they wanted. I ended up abandoning my nicely organized binder and having everything in a mess when I left the interview. I think keeping all of the documents in the binder for safety and ease of access for your own personal use is the best way to go, but for the interview put the unplastic-sleeved documents into the multi-pocketed file folder so your fiance can get them easily at the time. Certainly, you can put colour coded tabs on each of the pockets! Good luck at the interview!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ah, okies on the extension.......just checkin'

I agree though, it is very important to have documents in the exact order they specify in the instructions and for everything to be out of sleeves. It all makes for ease of processing. So one should abstain from being overly ####### with things that aren't requested. I know in Sydney, people have been known to be told to sit back down and reorganise the way they want things done.

No, No, No not Killjoy at all!! Thank you for letting me know this!! I actually have an accordian folder as well. Quick question, when do they tell my fiance to have things in their specific order? In the interview letter?

He doesn't read English well, so should I go over with him what each document is when I am there and he can lable the tab in Greek??

Someone just got married, I hear all the horns beeping outside my apartment. Is this a good omen???

All of his instructions will be sent out in Greek and English! If he can read, he can follow this. Now, will he? :) That's up to you.

The instructions are basically the checklist of what to bring, with instructions on which specific doc to get (like which version of the piniko mitro--you order that on the telephone, btw). He can easily have everything ready as of today, with the exception of the medical. This is not rocket surgery, trust me.

DO remind him about the waiting in line (don't do it) outside the Embassy, and don't take mobile etc inside--try to keep it light due to security checks. And eat before he goes. :)

Yes, I'd go over with him what you are providing, and its role in the big picture.

P3 leads you to believe that's the order the docs will be called for in, but it is not. When we first got there we were handed a new document list and had to give everything back in that order, so just memorizing w/out understanding what each doc is is prolly not a good idea. He got his military papers?

I think the horns are a good omen! Did you ever read some of the Greek wedding traditions? Like the groomsmen dressing the groom (ahh, good times), or the piece of iron to hang over your doorway (his mom or sister should get you one to take home!)? Village weddings are so much fun.. when else do you get a donkey at your wedding?!
