If you look at the correlation between the NOA date & approval date pattern for VSC. By the way, this is totally my guess;

We, August 2011 VSC Filers will see some action starting on April 23, 2012 Monday. So, 2 more weeks to go..

Let's see who is gonna be the first one (VSC) to be approved.

We, August 2011 VSC Filers will see some action starting on April 23, 2012 Monday. So, 2 more weeks to go..

Haha...funny enough, I actually think the first few Aug VSC approvals should be seen by early next week. From observations so far, once a month reaches about 60-65%, the next month begins. June (with about 15124 VSC applications) took 6 weeks to get to that point. Based on maths (I know VSC does not work with maths...haha), I would assume that July (which has only 9938 VSC applications) should take about 4 weeks, all things being equal. (by the end of this week, It will be 4 weeks since the first few July VSC approvals were seen). Right now, July VSC is at 42%.....its getting really close to that point.

Once again, this is just my analysis.....VSC might not like maths as much as I do....haha...

As I said earlier, VSC July is almost at that 60-65% margin, after which August begins. So the question is.........who will be the first August filer to be approved next week??? You all should make sure you go to church/mosque/alter to pray on Sunday. Haha. Its always nice to add some fun to the anxiety.

Hope you all are praying for VSC to speed up the process. Anyways, our trip to India is drawing close. We will leave early June. I am still waiting for my green card to arrive. Is it okay to travel with extension letter? Or can I go ahead and call USCIS and ask them about my case updates?

Hope you all are praying for VSC to speed up the process. Anyways, our trip to India is drawing close. We will leave early June. I am still waiting for my green card to arrive. Is it okay to travel with extension letter? Or can I go ahead and call USCIS and ask them about my case updates?

Hopefully you will surely be approved and have it in hand by then! Just as long as your extension letter hasn't expired when arriving back in the US it should be okay. It wouldn't hurt to call first and followup with an info-pass if necessary to get a new extension. Have a great trip.

My 'kids' are anxious to hear, as they'd like an approval before she applies for citizenship, so we're praying too.

According to my guess; some of us will hear some actions in May. I hope you will be approved by then & get your GC sometime in May, right before the trip.

Sure you can still go abroad with the extension letter until its expiration date, but the question is "You do not want to have some clouds over your head" do you ? While you are abroad you will have a peace of mind if you have your permanent GC with you, not to mention "Expired GC along with the Extension Letter is not straightforward as Unexpired GC for some airline /security personnel at the airports, it might be hectic sometimes, I do not want to scare you here, but what I am saying is you have to explain the situation more in details, on the other hand if you had an unexpired GC, just give it to them everybody around the world recognizes it. I am %100 sure, you will hop in the plane enter US with no issues.

Hope you all are praying for VSC to speed up the process. Anyways, our trip to India is drawing close. We will leave early June. I am still waiting for my green card to arrive. Is it okay to travel with extension letter? Or can I go ahead and call USCIS and ask them about my case updates?

Any opinions/feedbacks are welcome!!

Hopefully you will surely be approved and have it in hand by then! Just as long as your extension letter hasn't expired when arriving back in the US it should be okay. It wouldn't hurt to call first and followup with an info-pass if necessary to get a new extension. Have a great trip.

My 'kids' are anxious to hear, as they'd like an approval before she applies for citizenship, so we're praying too.

Just talked to USCIS customer service and they said that right now VSC is processing applications received in June 20 2012. And those who filed in August will hear or get notice within 60 days from now. They also told me that there should be no issues if I travel with extension letter and expired green card.

But I still hope and pray I get my GC soon before the trip.

If it makes you feel any better, my wife had no trouble with traveling to and from Uzbekistan (through JFK) with her letter, expired PR card and passport. Even ran into an issue where her Driver's License was expired, but since the passport was in good standing, all went well. She says that when she came back into the country (in January), they read the letter and said "Welcome back home."

Don't believe the customer service too much, they (USCIS call center) are reading those kind of routine answers for FAQ. They don't know anything, according to USCIS Procrssing Dates, they are right which shows June 20, but the page has not been updated for a long time.

In fact, VSC is trying to finish up July 2011 filers in April 2012. So, May 2012 is going to be August 2011 filers. If you are lucky, you get approved & get your GC before the trip otherwise you will see the Approval letter & GC in your mailbox when you come back to US. Have a nice trip. Please keep us posted.
