Packet 3 Help needed

I am currently sat filling in packet 3, I have partially filled forms DS-230 part 1 and 2. Do I also have to fill out DS-157, 156 AND 156K?

I am the beneficiary, is anything in this packet pertaining to my fiance himself?

It also states that I need to fill my employment and education from the last 10 years, my work career has been sporadic and my education I only passed my end of school GCSE's.I went to college but didn't get any qualifications in anything of note really, I dropped out of courses and the only certifications I have are for smaller courses in Administration and such.

I don't have anything of substance to put here and I have no clue as to dates, how can I fill this in? I'd rather not look like the dropout-bumm that I used to be (and what some of you may be thinking now as you read this). My previous history isn't the person I am now. Is this going to be an issue?

Also one of the questions on form DS-156, question 32 asks if I intend on working in the U.S. Of course I do have all intentions of getting a job, but this question then asks me to detail an address of an employer. How can you fill this? If you say yes but don't have employment it appears wrong, but if you answer no because you have nothing lined up you appear liable to become public charge.

On top of all that the following question (33) asks if I am going to study in the U.S and again asks for details of an educational establishment. How do I fill that too? Yes I will be getting a job and yes I will be heading straight into studying for a GED. But I don't have a job nor a place of study lined up yet.

With all the work going into the Visa and also what will pretty much be a rushed wedding afterwards, I haven't even looked into employment. PLUS who will employ anyone with the background I have without at least a basic education or GED?

This is like running circles while juggling.

Any help is very much welcome :)

The packet 3 link for London is very helpful. See the London US Embassy web site here: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

You will need the DS-230 Part I, DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157. Once all your duckies are in a row, you need the DS-2001 (meaning, you have all the documentation you need for the interview and you are ready).

Your fiance will need to complete the I-134 and provide supporting documentation (e.g. recent pay stubs/letter from employer and tax transcripts).

With regard to filling out the DS-156, see the example forms. They're great! http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

WIth regard to employment and schooling - fill out all the schooling you have done. For employment, if I remember correctly, you cannot list any gaps in employment - so perhaps state 'Unemployed' if you didn't hold a job during any of that time? Just a suggestion?!

(A side note, my finance didn't have formal schooling beyond the time when he took his GCSEs. He didn't write his NVQs or anything on there, as they were earned on the job)

You do indeed need to complete all those forms, and they do refer to you.

Just answer the best you can. Some questions may confuse you because the form is not specifically for K1 visa applicants, but used for lots of different visas. So for some of these you can just write "after adjusting status" as your answer.

For education write the approximate dates of your college attendance, with n/a for degree. You could also write your high school dates in, although I think that isn't necessary, can't remember.

For employment write down what you can, with dates estimated if necessary. You could be the bummest bum in the world and it wouldn't be relevant to your visa :-) lol.

Thank you Kristin :)

For my schooling shall I just leave it at GCSE's? Around 17 years old I lived in a shelter for homeless kids, of which I didn't work at all and neither did I study for a while, I did claim benefits in order to have housing office help me pay my rent, as such I was classed as estranged from my family. With the very unstable period of time between leaving school and 2009, I never had a real home and stability. I haven't had the support of a family, therefore I found myself homeless a lot and at the mercy of council housing and waiting lists. With no home it's very hard to have a stable job or study, I managed around 9 months of a job when I reconciled with my mother somewhat but that fell apart when I was made homeless again and I was dismissed from my position.

It will also show on my medical records that I suffered depression for some time due to the situation I was in, that I was medicated. Shall I declare this? The doctor wrote me off sick for a long time due to this (I lost my grandmother, it hit me hard, she was all I had in the world)

The paperwork is frustrating me to all hell, all they want are dates, numbers and facts, but nothing is ever black and white. Nothing is straight forward, and I'm afraid they will refuse me on the grounds that they have no understanding at all of where I've been in life and what I have been through.

I have my stability now, I have a home and a wonderful Fiance. I have support and I hope I can show them that I'm not like that anymore. I have a life, it's just sat waiting for me to be given the go ahead to get on with it :(

JoannaV - Thank you for taking time to add your reply, it is much appreciated ^_^

I'll be showing this all to my fiance so we can get a better understanding of what I can do :)
