Finally had Rin's biometrics appt today. Took about 20 minutes (first in line for bio when they opened). The lady who processed her told her she would receive her interview letter within three weeks. Back to more waiting now...

I indicated in my N400 application that I want to change my first name. Does anyone know if that would allow me to do the same day oath or if it will delay my oath taking in the baltimore field office. Also, I thought I read in one of the postings that during the interview I will be asked again if I want to change my name and then I can perhaps change my mind to not make the name change? I feel I don't want to delay my oath taking so I can soon be a fed employee or work overseas whichever comes first.

sorry aussie girl, i dont know about name change. i didnt change it and had oath 3 hours after my interview. but i know that they are going through the N400 step by step and they do ask you questions. she changed things with a red marker on my N400. maybe you can tell the IO that you changed your mind. good luck aussie girl.

I emailed my congressman Don Young yesterday, as to why its taking so long to have my fingerprints scheduled. Got a test msg today that my fingerprints have been scheduled (just need to see the letter as to when that will be). Slowly moving forward.

So, still waiting on interview day in line for scheduling for a month now. Today I got a yellow letter that said in big letters, that "THIS IS NOT AN INTERVIEW NOTICE" and informed me that I have to bring a state-issued driver's license to the interview, which haven't not been scheduled yet. Very, very weird... . I brought it to my biometrics and I do remember that they made a copy of it. So has anybody got that too?

I haven't gotten an interview letter yet, just the yellow letter. I'm still in that queue waiting for the interview to be scheduled. It takes a while in New York, I guess.

Had my interview today. I was there 30 minutes previous (well, actually I was earlier but waited in the parking lot as the appointment notice said, in bold, not to arrive more than 30 minutes before the appointment time as space in the waiting room was limited- of course there was lots of space!), and got seen 50 minutes after my appointment time.

The interview itself was easy and only took about 20 minutes. She started off giving me an oath to tell the truth, then asked to see my greencard and drivers license, then my passport and my husband's passport, asked whether we were still married and lived together. The interviewer asked some questions she obviously knew by heart as she looked through my application (are you willing to bear arms for the USA if required by law, have you ever been a member of the communist party, have you ever been associated with a terrorist group etc), and checked that I still was a member of the associations I listed.

The interviewer then asked how many kids we had and birth cert for any born in the USA. She asked when my last trip abroad was since I immigrated (never), then asked why I'd never travelled as I travelled a lot before immigration (3 kids under 4- to which she said "bless your heart!"), and whether I missed my home country. She seemed happy when I said my mom came to visit often. Then I had to read a sentence in English ("What is one of the rights of a US citizen?" and write one ("Voting in federal elections is one of the rights of a citizen"). Then came the civics test:

1. What ocean is on the West of the USA?

2. Who is the current Vice President?

3. Name one of the writers of the Federalist Papers

4. Who is the Governor of your state?

5. What is one of the wars the USA fought in the 19 hundreds?

6. Why did we seek independance from Great Britain?

The interviewers computer crashed after the last question, and she paniced a bit and had to ask me the last question again (I guess they get them randomised from their computer screen). She then asked to see evidence of bonafide marriage, and I gave her the three years tax returns, a recipt of furniture with both our names, check book with both our names, and house deeds with both our names, and birth cert of my youngest born in the USA and Consular Record of Birth Abroad of the twins. She went off to photocopy the stuff, then came back, handed me a piece of paper saying I passed and told me oath is in about 6 weeks, but definitely before the end of the year, should get 3-4 weeks notice. That was it!
