Typically medical assistance is not considered as one of the types of assistance that would disqualify you from sponsoring your husband. Food stamps, child care assistance, public housing etc. would all be types of assistance that they would not want to see you receiving. I am of course assuming that you are receiving Medicaid/Medicare/Healthy start and nothing else.

Actually Hot Mama is half right:

Here are the words directly from the I-864 instructions--very straightforward--and NOT a problem that you are receiving Medi-Cal, or other means tested benefits--you just can't count them as income !! So if you have enough income otherwise, you don't need an additional sponsor.

Does Receipt of Means-Tested Public Benefits Disqualify me From being a Sponsor?

No. Receipt of means-tested public benefits does not disqualify anyone from being a sponsor. However, means-tested public benefits cannot be accepted as income for the purposes of meeting the income requirement.
