Thought I'd start a casual and potentially networking thread on how you met and where you and your wife/husband/fiancé are from: I'll start:

I met my wife quite by accident! She was on Skype, and wanted to practice her English (she completed a Degree in Business English at a Chinese College). So, she set her Skype to find random people whose language was English. One day, she popped up on my screen, but I wan't there. When I later got back to my computer, there was her message on my Screen: 'Hello, I am from China, would you like to chat?' However, she had already logged off. I was curious, so I saved her user name. The next day I saw her online, chatted her up, and the rest is history.

I am from Boston, and she is from Nanning (Guangxi, Southern China).

St. Louis ----- Chongqing

Met on a website called "interpals." Her profile listed the same favorite movie as mine so I said hello, took a while to warm up conversation since she was hesitant to talk to men and had preferred female penpals(as her experience was often negative with perv jerks). Stayed friends for about a year and slowly the relationship evolved.

Nov 6, 2009: "I had breakfast in Korea, lunch in Shanghai, and dinner in Chongqing...now I just need to find a squat toilet..."

Hahaha, but Sam, you are a lovely brownie!! I know the stares are a lot worse in China, but I just stare back and smile because, like you, we are happy and don't give any thought to it.:dance:

We met on a site meetic.com. Hard to believe but she said her and a friend registered there and her friend got lots of emails but she didn't get any so she saw my profile and emailed me. Can't believe that as gorgeous as she is but as they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. That was little over 3 years ago and just 49 more days till she gets here

I can relate to the stares although I get them even when not with her since there aren't a lot of 6'4" white guys running around Chengdu. It's so bad that when we go out together, she tends to walk a little ways away from me because all the staring makes her uncomfortable. But that is only in China. When we travel outside of China she doesn't mind.

Hey, Casprd, where was that second photo shot, the one with you on the raft? Was that Nanning? I'd like to go there!

P.S. Say in your timeline you got an RFE. What was it for?

Met her in Shenzhen she is from Xiangfan. Hubei

Met my wife on blossoms.com wrote 6 days a week to each other plus phone calls. She knew some English but not a lot. I am from Cleveland she has been here 2 months now. We were married on 11-11-09. A long, but very worth while wait.
