Is this CFO class really a requirement? None of this was mentioned at the embassy during the interview process for her fiancé visa. BTW we were approved on July 21 and just waiting for her visa to be returned.

CFO requirements are Philippine government issues, not USA government which is why it may not be mentioned at USEM. Here is a link where I discuss our experience.........

The reason it wasn't mentioned at the interview was because it has absolutely nothing to do with getting a US visa...it is strictly a PH Government requirement. I'm pretty sure CFO approval is almost automatic. Your Fiancee just has to endure it (it's truly ridiculous) and pay the many fees (which seems to be the single true requirement for getting a CFO sticker).

Congrats on the approval

Please let us know how the interview went. Congrats on passing.

Yes, the CFO is required. It is a means on the Philippine government tracking overseas Filipinos. At customs, you will not be allowed to leave without showing attendance to the class or having paid the fees. The class is only about $20 Us, but Philippines Customs can deny your travel without it.

Please note: K-1 visas are NON-immigrant visas with CONDITIONAL Immigration which sometimes make it difficult to find all of the answers you are looking for. The consular Officer, nor the US Embassy is not obligated to inform you of immigration laws, rules, or regulations of the country the beneficiary is residing in. This is to protect the Embassy from providing inappropriate information or incorrect process and procedure. US Immigration leaves the local country emigration requirements to the beneficiary and the petitioner to deal with.

it IS mentioned here on the embassy website:

Best of luck to you. this is only a one day process. However, this can be one of the worst things your fiancee will endure. She will need to know many facts about you, and your secret name. Plus a copy of your BC, passport Bio page, plus either your last income tax return or something to show that your are single and where you live. She will also need photos of you. And if under 21 a parent must attend with her. If under 24, a parent must sned a notice of counseling. There are locations in Cebu as well as manila.

Hope all goes well, and congrats, you are just days away from her being here.

They will not need your passport photos or secret names. Only the us fiancé's previous divorce decree's. The OP needs to call them for the requirements.

Yes, she does have to take a CFO seminar. OP, you need to call the two different places to take the seminar to find out the requirements of what she needs to bring. You don't need your passport biographical page and secret names and passwords. My wife only needed my previous marriage divorce decree. What she is required to bring may be different because of whatever idiot that answers the phone at the seminar place my tell her to bring something different. It's kind of like the Philippine custom agents, one my make you pay a tax because they don't like what color hat you are wearing and the other one won't. To make things easier for her, just call in advance to her showing up at the CFO and find out what she needs.

I assume you are referring to the petitioner's mother's maiden name.
