Hello fellow Vjers,

I need some advice of this important issue. I've had my interview and it was approved (thank God). Hopefully I should get the visa in 2weeks all things been equal. Now the issue is I was told it is valid for six months i.e January. I need to travel out of the US by Dec 30 to Nigeria for a family occassion (january 7, 2012) and I do not know how long the AP&EAD takes. So I'm thinking should I wait till January 8th to relocate to the US or leave by end of August. The earliest I can leave here is end of august anyway so do you think the AP will be approved by December. Please share your experience, I need to start planning. Thanks for all your help so far, I wish you all the BEST. (L)(F)

EAD / AP takes 2-3 months to get. If your lucky to get it. It may not be approved before the green card is in some cases which means 4 months for the GC.
