Hi everyone,

My fiancée and I are getting married soon in France (within 3 months) then we will apply for visa CR1 (ex k3). We both live in France and we want to move to the US next year.

To get married in France we will not have any problem ; she has a French passport so we will get all the document in French (certificat of birth).

My question is : will we have any problem when we will apply for a visa cr1 for me to go to the US ?

Thanks a lot for your help

You should be fine. Just make sure you do have a little buffer, a few days, to handle any special requests from the bureaucratie française... I swear you might end up at a Mairie who simply doesn't get that the legal paper size in the USA is different than A4 in France. No joke. Once that is done, and you guys are happily married, get it translated/translate it and you're good to go for the CR1 :)

I am not sure i understood your question.

You are asking if you will have any problem to go to the US if you file for CR1? I don't see where the problem is. You are a USC, you can go to the US as much as you want!

Also for the marriage in France, make sure you have a valid ID and they might ask a translation of your BC as well as the "apostille" on it. I know because a bunch of french administrations asked that for my son's US birth certificate including the french consulate of Chicago when i made him a french citizen. Now he has a french version of his birth certificate so no bothering for the "apostille". In order to get it, you need to bring or mail your BC to the secretary of state in the US or you can do it in France at the US embassy. good luck !
