well I have been super busy since we received her interview date and in the process of moving. I am happy to say she has her visa in hand now. my boss has decided to be a pain in the well you know so, I have to wait until August to fly to new York to meet her. seems during what is know as prime time vacation I cant seem to get a few days off. to top it off the non stop flight have tripled in price. i hate having to schedule all my vacation time in November if they didnt pay so good I would have quit years ago. I will try to update after I bet the new furniture in.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

That's great news. Congratulations! :dance: :dance: :dance:

Cost of flying during the summer is always higher but with fuel costs, etc. the fees to fly are even higher. Have you considered having her POE closer than New York. Since you are paying outrageous costs anyway why not investigate her flying into an airport closer so that maybe you can pick her up on a one day off (a sick day?). :thumbs:

I promised a few days in NY so I can take a few days in August besides would be a nice b day present. I did find a few non stop flights for 800 but not when I have time available. looks like a layover in Russia since those flights are 700. no way im letting her stop in Paris, the layover is always short and they keep loosing my baggage.

by the way thanks all. if it wasnt dfor this site I would still be waiting and spending a ton on lawyers.

I loved my Paris layover. Of course, it was only once and I had no baggage, but it was nice all the same.

We found our best deal this year was to buy tickets to Moscow (nonstop from JFK) and then bought separate flights from Moscow to Donetsk and seprate flights from Burlington to JFK, I just bought those last night, $49 each way, I can barely drive there for that what with tolls, etc and don't even think about parking costs!

This was MUCH cheaper than buying tickets Burlington to Donetsk or even JFK to Donetsk. We considered the train, which we have done before, but train tickets have gone up to where flights are about the same price and about 12 hours less time! Plus we miss out the whole train to Ukraine experience (refer to formerly posted "I'm superstar from Ukraine!" video) :lol:
