I was wondering what supporting documents (for the I-134) are needed at the interview.

I already sent her a PM. No response so far... :unsure:

My fiance is in the US Military so things might be a little different.

what i have so far: (supporting documents for I-134)

-> copy of ebonds

-> copy of certificate of title of his car

-> w2 for the years 2003 2004 and 2005

-> tax returns for the years 2003 2004 and 2005

-> "employment letter" (his sgt. wrote that wrote his working hours and the date he started working there

plus the day his contract ends)

-> his military orders

-> last bank statement

-> LES (from februar - august 2006)

-> letter of bank (Fax, date account was opened and current balances)

DO I NEED THE LAST 6 BANK STATEMENTS OR IS THE LAST ONE SUFFICENT?

LETTER OF BANK DOESNT LIST THE TOTAL AMOUNT DEPOSITED FOR THE PAST YEAR! WILL THAT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS AT THE INTERVIEW?

ANYTHING ELSE I NEED?

Here I am :P

Here's what I wrote in my pm to her (replied via pm before I read this post):

Hi Sabrina,

Joshua will need to send you:

1. a statement from his bank (or somewhere where he has deposits) a letter from his employer stating the date the account was opened, the total amount deposited in the last year, and the present balance

2. a letter from his employer on company letterhead that verified his start date, the nature of his job, his salary, and whether his job is temporary or permanent.

3. tax return for the last year only if he is self-employed

4. list of stocks, if he has any

See page 3:

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/i-134.pdf

I sent the letter from the bank, a letter from my employer, and a copy of my eTrade statement. I also wrote an updated letter of intent and had it notarized. I actually sent him the original or everything and then 2 extra copies of the entire packet, just in case.

If there is any other asset documentation that he has and wants to include, he could do so. But that will all be required for the I-864 when you adjust status. For now, it's sufficient that he just complete the necessary info on the I-134.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else!

In reading this post, it seems like you have plenty of evidence... all he needs to do at this point is supply proof that you will not become a public charge. So... tax returns and W2s are probably overkill at this point, but if there's any question about income level, it won't hurt to provide them.

You'll need all of this again when you adjust status....

I don't know. The tax return looks like a longer version of the W2... :blush:

What´s the difference between tax return and W2?

W2 is a summary of earnings and taxes for the year as a result of employment. It is completed by an employer as evidence for a tax return.

Tax return is submitted by one who has earned income (there are guidelines) and is a statement of all income (not just employment... would include interest income, etc) with upon which taxes would be computed. One may qualify for deduction(s) (like mortgage interest) which would reduce the tax that would need to be paid.

A crude description, but hopefully you get the point...

So I was told by the Consulate I need to bring last year´s tax return and the w2.

I do have the tax return, how can I get this w2?

The W2 had several copies when it was sent by the employer for tax preparation. A copy should have been kept... or at least made.... when the tax forms were prepared and sent in.

If you can't locate a copy, you may need to go back to the employer to see if they have a copy.

I have an accountant do my tax preparation and I always get a copy of my W2 with a copy of my completed tax return.

rlt,

If the income reported on a tax return includes income from employment (other than self-employment) then the tax return is supposed to include a W-2. In other words, if you have the tax return you should have the W-2.

If you do not have the W-2 then your sponsor gave you an incomplete copy of the tax return. Tell your sponsor to send you a complete copy of the tax return, including all attachments.

My fiance is from PR and his tax returns has a page upfront saying "Witholding Statement" and then a bunch of pages with questions regarding his taxes, which is the actual tax return papers. So that witholding statement is the W2?
