Thats true, they can only track it to the border. I wasn't worried about them loosing my birth cert, I have like 4 of them, lol For some reason Sask, just wanted to keep sending me them after they made a mistake on printing 1.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Okay glad the numbers are normal lol wont worry about the middle name thing either cus I didn't used to book tickets with it anyways before. Just was odd that all my other passports had it on there until this one.

I really hope Minnew gets the passport this time! I signed her new photo and did her application with my new passport info last night for her so she could send it off today.

Well I used UPS for my package to Canada on Thursday, another $40 but its worth it to me as they can track and give me proof of delivery. Not only did it have my original BC but orignal marriage certificate, would like those back! Now for the waiting game all over again!

But as we all know, they are not true originals, lol But I hear ya, USPS can loose stuff, and UPS gives you peace of mind! If I was in a hurry back when I renewed my CDN passport, I would have used UPS as well! I just forked over like $60 last week to get my pets physical records shipped to the VA USDA vet in richmond, and then have it shipped back next day! Never fun traveling internationally with animals!! Good luck with ur passport

If you do ensure you goto the USDA APHIS site and see what that country requires!! And even contact that countries consulate if you have any concerns!! USDA paperwork stated that nope, didnt need that consular stamp--WRONG, it did and the airport looked for it and that countries Agriculture guy looked for it.

ok i have a question, does anybody know how long it takes to get a US passport? we need to get one for my husband, he has never had one before.. we are thinking of going to Canada next month..

they say 4 to 6 weeks on their site but i am hoping it is quicker... wish we would have taken care of this sooner...

My husband got his in 1 week but that was last year and hes military. If you file for the expedite on the passport it can take 2-3 weeks but its pricy. You just need to make sure you have all your Ps and Qs in order and they will expedite the service for the passport and get it back to you in a hurry. Here is the expedite info page http://travel.state.gov/passport/processing/processing_1740.html - its just like getting a rush passport from Canada. Anyone can apply for it and get a proved.

When I applied for one earlier in the year for my baby, I think I had it in just over 2 weeks.

If I remember correctly there is an area where you can put date of travel on it so they get it back to you in time.

yes Google is already my friend..lol , I know I can get it expedited....I was just wondering how long it took without it.... if possible, I want to avoid paying the extra 60 to 70 bucks.

we would probably be going somewhere between September 11th and September 16th ...

we applied for my husband's passport card on Saturday.. we didn't get it expedited... the lady said we should get it in 3 1/2 to 4 weeks... it will be cutting it close for buying a plane ticket but my husband said that if it came down to it, we could just drive up...

Well it's been about a week since charge posted to my account!

Fedex rolled on by this morning...I'm just a wee bit ticked off with passport Canada. The fedex dude asked me if I was expecting something and for my last name. He said im glad I caught you or else I would have sent it back for bad address!! They were 2 numbers off and those 2 numbers don't even exist in my neighborhood! Cmon ppc read and type in correctly!

If I wasn't outside with the dogs it would have been sent back I'm sure!

Anyways they returned all my docs, my previous passport expired 2014 new one in 2016

This would have furthur delayed my 2nd app and made me stress even more got ROC next month!
