HELP! Urgent! Visa for my Wife!

Just a quick question on Form I-130, if I put “N/A” on #14 as the petitioner. Do I need to mark “X” NO on #14b? Because on sample I-130 it was left blank on both Yes and No.

I left #14 blank and didn't bother with #14b.

Yay... woohoo!!! *** Finally sent my completed form I-130 yesterday. Thank you guys for all your help and continued advice, especially to Ryan H, Darnell, pushbrk, and Penquin_ie, love you guys!!! At any rate, as I checked My Case Status (CS) under uscis.gov online using the Receipt Number given to me. It states that my CS is under Initial Review at this time. This CS has four sections: Acceptance, Initial Review, Decision and Post Decision Activity. Is Case Status part of NOA1, also?? Thanks for any additional input!!!

NOA1 is short for First Notice of Action. The first notice of action is simply that your file has been accepted, the fee has been collected, and your file is placed into the queue.

ya, NOA-1 and 2 are VJ specific terms - any USCIS rep doesn't know them, is not their jargon at all.

usually, NOA-2 is the approval notice

both come in as a formletter, I-797-C , via postal mail.

Right now I am pro-actively preparing the next paperworks (AOS and Packet 4) needed in anticipation for the NOA2 aftermath requirements... But a couple of points need to be addressed in my case such as:

1. How will I know if my request for an expedite for humanitarian reasons is granted? Will CSC officers' email me?

2. For the Forms I-184 and DS-230: Should I wait for NVC to mail me the forms or can I get it out-rightly online?

3. (re: Profile Change Signature question) I am running out of room to enter my timeline – any hint?!

Just wondering how a LPR was living in the Philippines for 3 years and returned to the US to naturalize? That seems like it would create a problem with the residency requirements...

Thanks Bob 4 Anna for your input... Yes, you're right... I should have said, “Naturalization process in behalf of my wife.” But I thought I specified that on my initial post, “paragraph 2, second sentence.”

2. By applying for Form G-1145 E-Notification of Application is this the same as registering for an automatic case status updates by email and text message "under My Case Status - Initial Review @uscis.gov" or "Registering your case number to view status" or NOT? I just didn't want to have a duplicate accounts at USCIS, just in case.

You can call, they may not have the information.

No, the G-1145 will notify you when the file is accepted and routed to a service center. Once accepted by the service center, you can create an online account with USCIS.

I created an online account with the USCIS only to find out nothing has been done since they mailed me my NOA1. So, I called the CSC this morning and spoke with the first tier operator only to give me all the things I already know and could look it up online; including telling me to make an appointment using the Infopass to find out about my expedite request. Finally, I just asked her if she can transfer me to the "Expedite Department" which she did and talked to second tier (might be a supervisor.) And he informed me that my case is pending and they're working on it. However, he said, “he submitted a request for it now and that I should get a reply in the mail prior to 8/23/11.”

Now, my new questions are as follows:

1. I would also like to bring over my “Step Sons” now especially, (the older one born 1990, was 17 years old when I married their Mom 3 years ago) but next month on September 16th, he will be 21 years old. What do I need to do to get my son? Another Form I-130 again?

2. How should I apply for a Visa when he's so close of being over 21? With all the waiting we have to endure at this stage?

Is there still ample time to do this?

3. Will my petition with my wife be adequate enough so my aging stepson be allowed to get a visa?

I'm afraid the stepson turning 21 in September is completely out of luck. You would have been wise to file an I-130 for him a year ago. For the IR2 visa for a stepchild, each child needs their own petition and everything else their parent needs to go through for a visa.
