London Embassy - Bank Statement

The London embassy's website states that if I want to prove I have the finances for the visa, I need a bank statement with the following:

"bank statement showing present balance of applicant's account, date account was opened, the number and amount of deposits and withdrawals during the past 12 months, and the average balance during the year"

I called my bank today (HSBC) and asked in store too, and neither of them will give me something this detailed. Is the embassy very specific about these details? Can it be a statement simply with the balance and date account was opened?

I know my US fiance's finances are more important, but I would ideally like to bring my own too just in case.

You really do not need any off that to bring with you. I gather you are keeping accounts opened there even though you are coming here to live. I don't understand why the bank would not give you that info crazy really but yeah statements printed off would do the trick.

Your finances are totally irrelevant, so it doesn't really matter. But if you want to bring something then either bring your statements from the past year or just a recent one and one from a year ago to show that you haven't suddenly added a load of money to make it look like you have money... But like I said, it's not relevant.

They won't even look at your finances, so no need.

But on another note - I banked with HSBC in the UK and I was able to obtain past statements. I actually ordered detailed statements for the past 3 years (when I was applying for a UK visa, I needed those). I had to order them over the phone by calling HSBC.

Thanks Kristin, yeah I called them and they said they stopped doing it because of some sort of fraud and they got in trouble. Argh, just in time! I guess I will just take some regular statements.

I think I'll keep the account open when I move, yeah, but will probably transfer all my money over to a new US account.
