Spouse visa process i-130

My spouse I-130 petition was approved by USCIS on the 05-25-11.Since then I have been calling NVC for my case no.

I called on 06-13-11 an operator told me it will take 10-20days before case no.can be generated.On 06-14-11

another operator told me it will take up to 6-8weeks before case no. can be assigned.

I called an operator at NVC today to know the status or case no.of my petition because I was confused by different

answers.She told me that visa is not available yet and I have to wait for few years.Please can anyone help me on this?

Is the petitioner a USC?

Are you a USC or LPR? USC do not have to wait for a visa number to be available whereas LPR does.

Keep calling NVC till you get your case no.

Make sure that your application was delivered in the first place. How did you send it-USPA priority, UPS overnight??? The courier should be able to give you a receipt of delivery and the name of who signed for it. If you have already checked into that and know that it has been delivered, did you file a e-mail/cell notification form (G1145) If you did they should email you/ text you the number as soon as they get to the application (not necessarily the same day it was delivered though). If you did not file G1145 be aware that it takes the post office quite a few days to deliver the paper NOA1 in the mail. Mine came in a couple of weeks. If you have done all of that keep calling them for the number. Some one is bound to know something.

It will take approx. 4 weeks I just went through the same thing last year with my husband who lives in Lagos.

I promise you it wont take longer than 4 weeks I just went through this last year. My husband lives in Lagos too.
