what kind of material my husband need to take if he wants to finger prints early and what he could do after that? does the early finger prints will have an effect on earlier interview? besides, whats the meaning of the int ltr?

Does he have an interview date already? At the time they do the biometrics (fingerprints) he also needs to hand over any original documents that they have requested. In our case it was the I-864 and tax returns and medical documents. Have you confirmed with the consulate that he will be allowed to do his biometrics before the scheduled interview dates? Without an appointment he won't even be able to get in to the consulate if he isn't a US citizen.

Speaking of finger printing etc.

I read there was an escalator and elevator to the 4th floor of the consulate.

Some said to use the elevator to get up there quicker. I thought everyone has to stand inline to get in the building, so one has no choice but to follow the crowd. Is this not true?

I am planning to do the same as your husband and go earlier for the biometrics. During the Removing conditions process I did it. But if you want to go on an earlier date than you are scheduled you also have to go earlier in the morning like 800-8300 am when the ASC center opens and they are not so busy and they usually make the exception to take you. He just needs the ASC appointment notice, the green card, driving license and that's it as he would go for him normally scheduled appointment.

Most folks who want to do earlier fingerprints still have to wait on the FP appointment letter - then you have a reason to go in and say "I can't make the scheduled appointment, I'd like to do it today' .... They're not going to let you in at your local office if you don't have an appointment or FP letter just because your husband wants to do it early.

Earlier FP puts your husband through that step and probably bumps him up a bit, but nothing siginificant - he is still behind all the applications who are at that point as well.

Find this entire thread confusing, you send in your N-400 application, assume that is here in the USA to the appropriate lockbox address. If sending it to a consulate office in a foreign country, dead lost on this subject, but not even specified which country naturalization is taking place.

You receive a biometrics appointment letter indicating the time and place, in the USA. We had both kinds received, one that gave you options for a different appointment time, the other, you better be their at the time and place specified or your application will be denied.

You just bring that letter, your green card, your face and your fingers, they are taking your photo now. You have to fill out a hand written form, better know your Alien and SS number plus other personal information about yourself. Also dress appropriately for your photo. They take your prints, take your photo, keep that hand filled out form, stamp your biometrics form and give that back to you. Of course you keep your green card when you walk out. If they don't offer you the civic citizen study guide, you can request a copy. Then you leave.

Biometrics can not be new to you if you got this far. With both a wife and a stepdaughter, was a total of six times for us.

A the AOS stage, each received a separate biometrics letter, fortunately was scheduled at the same date and time, but two hours apart. Then we that did my stepdaughter first, but made us wait those two extra hours for my wife.

At the I-751 stage, my stepdaughter received her biometrics appointment two weeks later than my wife. We took her along anyway, did my wife, but made us wait to the end of the line for my stepdaughter, so we were there for three hours. Would have been 15 minutes if they let my stepdaughter stand in line with my wife, but was pleased with that, or would have been an extra trip for us.

Since my stepdaughter just had to be barely over 18 years of age, she had to wait those two extra years, so that was definitely two extra trips. At 450 miles a trip, was a total of 1,800 miles of driving just for biometrics. Since the FBI brags about solving cases with 80 year old fingerprints, this whole process of each having to take the same prints three times in a roll seemed crazy to me. But that is the way it is.

USCIS claims if they did take prints in less than 15 months, they will use that instead to save that long trip, but you still have to pay the 80 bucks anyway. It was only eleven months between the I-751 and the N-400 for my wife. Questioned the officer about that, he said, I don't know, I just work here.

Its not that 80 bucks that kills me, its that taking days off of work and driving 450 miles to have prints taken over and over again. Of course, all that is non-tax deductible.
