First time flying?

The culture change is a huge thing for our VN spouse... I was just wondering how many of our spouses had never been on a flight before they met us or was the flight to the US the first time on a plane? Some of us went on trip to other countries with our spouse before they immigrated as it was much easier than bringing them to visit here and that was the first time flying..

From motorbikes buses and taxis to planes trains and automobiles...

Before meeting me, my wife had already been on many flights, domestic and international, so flying to the US wouldn't be a problem for her. This will be the first time she's traveling (with me) to the US.

I'm fortunate that my wife has flown quite a bit and made at least one long international flight to Australia so she knows what she is in for with the trip to the US. Had she not flown to Australia before, I would probably head over to make the flight back with her, but since she has, she's comfortable with coming over alone. One good thing is the airline we use has a service that will help her with the customs and immigrations stuff, check ins and her luggage so that should make life a little easier for her.

My wife flew on airplanes in Alaska before we met. Since then she developed a fear of flying. I piloted small single engine airplanes years ago for a short time, but she would never fly with me. Our 3 kids flew with me several times. She flew to the Philippines in 2006 to see her brother who lives there. The airplane they were on dropped about a 1000 feet all at once, and that nearly scared her to death. I wasn't on that flight. She also said that being over the water scared her, and she swore that she would never fly again. I flew to the Philippines last October with a friend and his filipina wife, and my wife would not go because of fear. Her brother wanted to pay for her flight, and many of us tried to talk her into going but to no avail. She said that she was afraid in 2006 for the entire flight both ways, so she genuinely is afraid to fly. My friends are afraid to fly also, but they know they must do it if they are going to get to and from the Philippines where they have a new house and their families. They hold hands and pray while they are landing and taking off, which I think is good. I kind of enjoy feeling the airplane bouncing around as long as it doesn't crash! I love to fly.

My wife never flew, until she came over here. She 's never been to Saigon before she met me either. I thought for sure she would get sick on the plane but didn't. She would always get sick on the van's we rented because she wasn't accustomed to driving in automobiles. .
