I am wondering if there is another site to check status awaiting my NOA2. I have been checking here: www.uscis.gov but there isn't any option for showing when our file has been "touched". Is this viewed somewhere else? all it keeps saying now is that it's still under the Initial Review.

Thank you - I have an account... is it concerning if it hasn't been updated since March 23rd and we got our NOA1 March 17? I am guessing it's around 5 months to get NOA2?

Not at all - touches are basically worthless as tools to figure out when your case is going to get approved. Plan on 5 months; if you get anything sooner, count your blessings, but if you haven't heard anything by 5 1/2 - 6, start making noise.

Yeah I kinda got ahead of myself in the beginning when I heard the 5 month turn around - I thought that was 5 mths to my interview - but I guess it's pretty quick once it gets to NOA2? I still can't believe I have to fly from Victoria to Montreal for a 1 hour appt.... insanity. but worth it all in the end... just some days it's harder than others to see the light at the end... I really appreciate everyone's help on here... life saver

We had only one touch and that was 1 and a half months after filing, that was it! on the 4th month we were approved. Touches mean nothing....I have seen as little as one touch to six touches and both were approved, some take longer than others!

Watching the status can send you crazy, but it fills some time in I guess

NVC will go fast as long as you have everything ready to go. Start looking at the i864 (affadavit of support form) and DS230 (the form you will be filling out is only available online, this is the paper version) and start gathering the documents you'll need for each form. Saylin has a EP wiki guide for Canada in her signature you might want to start looking at as well.

Also wondering - the DS230 and DS260 forms want all your addresses since you were 16 - what if that is impossible - and you have no memory or there are gaps??? I moved A LOT and have NO clue as to where and when I lived a lot of places... what do we do for that? I am 40 for gods sake.... I am really freaking out about those forms

It is both funny and heart wrenching to see the lengths couples go through for status checks during this process. I assume it is because we feel so helpless once our packages are submitted. Looking for "touches", "comparing filing dates", "looking at Igors list", etc etc etc. Lol, mine was going on the USCIS website and entering case numbers lower than ours; then watching for status changes. When I would see approvals on cases just a few hundred numbers lower than ours I would start to get excited.

That I'm not so sure about; I assume talking to your parents (if they were involved in your moves) is out? Or.. jeez, I'm stumped. Maybe once you get to the NVC stage you can call and ask about it. Sorry I can't be more help. :(
