Perhaps I didn't word it well. I'm not looking for a particular company. Just want to know if they are worth the expense or if they provide a service that is necessary. Is it better to do the application for K1 myself or to hire these services. I still am curious what others' experiences are/were before I make a decision.

These service? providers get paid to do what you have to do anyway which is gather all the info. They simply fill in the forms & you sign & pay. What you really get for your money is false sense that things are going to be easy & faster. Neither is true when you factor in that you have hired no more than a filter service.

You are in the right place here on V J.

Last May 2010 I came here on a tourist visa to attend my fiance's graduation and army commissioning. We also took the time to have a consultation with an immigration lawyer that we found online. At that time I had never heard of VJ. So we went, talked to her for about an hour, and she basically told us afterwards that we didn't need her help and we could do it ourselves. She gave us free advice and was so nice! We really got lucky. We felt so good afterwards that we spent the next three days gathering and filing everything and then we mailed it, and I went home the next week. It was only once I had the NOA2 that I discovered VJ and this site really helped me a lot to prepare for the k1 interview, and now my AOS process. :) Bottom line is that even the lawyer herself said we didn't need one!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

I think its perfectly fine for someone to search for an attorney. I got a top peer reviewed lawyer doing my K-1 Visa. Sure, I could do it by myself, but with all of the questions I have and the uncertainty how to feel out the forms... well my fiance means too much to me for me to take a chance.

I'm not sure if an immigration service provider would be a good choice, I would just go with an attorney!

Anyone used the immigration service providers? The ones who promise to do the paperwork for you? Just curious if anyone has and what the experiences are. Also, which is the best.

Mahalo.

We used a lawyer for the paperwork. Everything was perfect. Our case was "lost" at USCIS. He had it found and approved in 1 week. Then we went into AP at NVC. He had it out in 7 days after they registered it. I am happy about that. We have had bad luck, since we met. I know without him, we would have had RFEs, or never gotten out of AP!

That's pretty much why I asked the question. Thanks for all the replies.
