We have just been told by the NVC that our petition has been received. Does anyone know if it is possible to schedule a medical exam without a letter from the Embassy/consulate? We do have our assigned case number from the NVC and I wanted to find out if this was sufficient enough to schedule a medical exam. I would really appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

I dont know in your country but in the Philippines, yes, you can get your medical done when you have your case number. Good luck!:)

you can have your medical exam even before you have a fix date for your interview. that's what i will do too. the medical exam has a valability of 6 months here. but you have to check on your embassy site which are the hospitals and doctors that make medical exams for visa because others wont be accepted

In Lagos you have to have something showing you have an upcoming interview You can either go to the site and download the exam papers (however the link has been broken for a while I am not sure if it is working again) or you can wait for them to send you the link (pkt3)keep in mind that you will have plenty of time to get the medical done before your interview most interview dates are 2months or longer from the time they get your case at the embassy. Good luck the rest of the way

Don't do medical too early, Nigeria has been having more people fall into AP and the last thing you want is to have a short visa validity or need to redo medical because it expires during AP.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I agree with Nigeriaorbust that you don't want to schedule medical too early. My fiance recently visited Lagos to inquire about obtaining his police report and also doing the physical. For the police report he was told to pickup closer to his interview date (July 19) and that it would be ready for him. When he called the clinic asking about the physical it was suggested that he come in closer to his interview date. Maybe this will help us int the long run in not being put into AP status  The excitement is growing as we are getting closer to the interview!
