Bringing 2 China Made Tablets to U.S. is this ok?

You could try bringing them. Anyway, you could be redundant by flying twice to the US coz you were ordered to return the first time due to your "made in china" tablets. :bonk:

You won't be turned back. CBP is required to confiscate all counterfeit items they are aware of and the travelers could be charged criminally for attempting to bring them into the country bu they would still be admitted just sans the electronics.

To add, you need to show receipts. Otherwise, if they don't notice the item is pirated, they may charge you duty on the full value of the real tablets.

He is refering to fake, illegally manufactured electronics, pirated electronics... Those stuff we order online are made in china but legal.

Illegal and legal products are two different ball games.

Define pirated electronics, like what, fake iphones , ipods, and ipads? Doesnt matter, they sell them in the usa

Not so much the electronics, but the software that is installed on those devices. You don't want to mess with Apple or Microsoft.

Visiting the United States Pg 30-31

Prohibited and Restricted Items

Articles bearing marks that are confusingly similar to a CBP recorded registered trademark, and restricted gray market articles (goods bearing genuine marks not intended for U.S. importation for which CBP granted gray market protection) are subject to detention and seizure. However, travelers arriving in the United States may be permitted an exemption and allowed to import one article of each type, provided that the article is for personal use and is not for sale. This exemption may be granted not more than once every 30 days. If the article imported under the personal exemption provision is sold within one year after the date of importation, the article or its value is subject to forfeiture.

You may also bring in genuine trademarked and copyrighted articles (subject to duties). Products subject to copyright protection most commonly imported include software on CD-ROMs, sound recordings, toys, stuffed animals, clothing with cartoon characters, videotapes, DVDs, music CDs, and books. Products subject to trademark protection most commonly imported include handbags, accessories, and clothing.

Yes. pirated electronics. Its really cheap in china. And i might be ignorant on this but i have never encountered fake/pirated/illegally manufactured items sold in best buy, costco and other well know electronics store hear in the US.

I dont go to those type of places that sell illegal stuff. You might be exposed with them. But i limit myself to legal stores only.

"They" sell illegal drugs in the US also, do you want to try to go through CBP carrying any?

Bottom line that CBP is required to act on the counterfeit items if they become aware of them just like a cop is required to act on illegal activities if they become aware of them.

would they ask about it? not really sure about bringing knock off tablets to the U.S.

if 'knock off tablets' = counterfeit copy of branded tablet,

then, sorry, CBP might snag it. maybe.

hard to determine, as the version of 'knockoff' definition varies. You'd think it'd be universally accepted, but, mostly its up to the CBP person at a POE.

I could see the FCC having a problem with them not being Type accepted. A requirement for anything that transmits RF to be used in the US. Manufactures get this before selling products in the U.S. But I think as long as it is turned off it's not transmitting thus not breaking the law.

Pirated software could be a problem. As well as being called an I-pad when it really is not. But if it has a generic name, it's a different product. Not trying to pass itself off as a real I-pad.

I buy stuff from here all the time, and have it sent to the usa, its fake stuff. Or iphone/ipad look a likes , nothing wrong with a "look a like : product, they even come with the ipad box

http://www.dealextreme.com/

Side note, a lot of the electronics sold at stores like bestbuy and etc, are made in china. Half the time china makes the workers make " extra" products that they sell on the black market , so they could be 100% real made from the same factory , Since Americans cant buy a chinese factory they lease them, and contract workers to work for 8 hours a day, but of course they work 12 and 16 hours a day producing extra items to sell from the factory

Like headphones, a $400 pair of headphones in the usa, you can buy the exact same online

Example, Dre Beat Pro head phones for $118 from china, probably from the same factory considering the real ones are made in china
