My fiance will be having his interview soon and we just know all will be fine. My question is; has anyone traveled on a K-1 visa across the Juarez border with a dog? My fiance has to determine his DHL service site and we were going to go for his home of Cozumel and he was going to fly with his dog from there, but it isn't possible now. We are thinking of him taking his dog with him to Juarez and crossing the border with the dog after he receives the visa. Is this even doable?

It is possible. just make sure the dog is up to date with all his shots, and you have proof. and also be prepared that the dog may have to go in quarenteene (sorry spelling) for a little bit, how far are you living from that border? i know this is a diff border, but my husband brought my cat across the border from Canada, and they never did ask for anything, just let him though, but all the websites say the must have proof of shots, and just to have it on hand.

I live in Missouri, but that isn't a big deal... I would just drive down and pick them up from "whereever". I have to check with Aeromexico airline to see if they will even allow the dog on the plane from Cozumel to Juarez. I don't know if any of the hotels will allow the dog to stay or if we would have to have a plan B on him staying with friends in Juarez..away from the consulate, which I am very wary of. Continental airlines changed their pet policy 2 months ago making it impossible for us to fly him to the US or this would have been a non-issue. Anyone ever stay at one of the consulate hotels with a pet before?

La Quinta says they allow pets, but I would call before to be sure. Every time I've crossed into Mexico with my dog we follow the law and bring the vaccination history and get a vet to issue a "certificate of health" within 48 hours before you will cross. They have never checked me going in and only checked me once going out of Mexico. They don't do quarantines, my only fear is that if they don't believe the dog is a USC they will detain you until you can prove otherwise so I always bring a couple photos that are obviously in the US.

Maria is right, I asked today Holiday Inn, Microtel and La Quinta. By the way, Maria, how far is La Quinta from the Consulate? Will they take you there or the medical services at 6 am? Thanks!

La Quinta has a free shuttle that can take you to the consulate, it's about a 5 minute drive. They will also take you other places you need to go such as DHL, the airport or even the pedestrian border crossing. I recommend you put your name on the shuttle reservation list if you need to get to an appointment because they do fill up during peak times.

hi, let me apologize in advance cus im probably going the wrong way about doing this, but im new to this site, and new to posting stuff ever. i read your fiance is having his interview soon. i just got my approval letter and a letter from the nvc sying that they forwarded everything to juarez consulate, how did u set up your appointment?? they told me i had to fill out a ds-260 form online and get a confirmation number before i can schedule an appointment. but when i tried filling out the ds-260 towards the end of the form it ask's if the petitioner (me) is her.. father, mother, spouse, sibling or employer. and im neither of those were not married yet. what did u put down for that question??? and aggain sorry for posting a question on your post, but i seen that your fiance is going thru juarez and i was hopeing u could help. thanks!!!
