Letter from GP about asthma for medical

I am preparing for my medical but was wondering if I needed to get a letter from my GP regarding my asthma and allergies?

Just found out it's going to cost me a minimum of £30 to get that, on top of the fee for my vaccination records :(

I notice that there was no mention of doing so on the following link: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv_medical_letter.pdf but that some posters have suggested any 'ongoing medical conditions' should have a letter from the GP. My asthma isn't bad, but it is classed as a 'chronic disease'.

Thanks

If you are on consistent medication for your asthma then it might be a good idea to invest in it for the medical

Good luck

The alternative of course is to go to the medical without the letter, and only get the letter if they request it. Up to you whether any possible delay is worth that.

Sucks that every GP seems to have a different system; mine was happy to just print out my vaccinations.

Thank you for the advice. Just spoken to the receptionist at the practice who advised me that it shouldn't be required unless it's serious asthma. She said even if they did ask for it, the delay would just be the time it took to post the doctor's letter to them.

Looking forward to moving forward with the whole process now!
