Reschedule Interview?

My fiancé was scheduled for his interview today, May 20, 2011, at 7:00AM, at the American Embassy In Lagos, Nigeria. He arrived at around 7:00AM. Since he did not take his cell phone, he sent me a text at about 10:00Am (their time), when he returned home. He told me that he and about 15 other applicants were asked to reschedule and they said they worked only a half day today. When I sent him a text back, I asked him what date they were going to reschedule him for. He said that he was told to write the consulate and they would give him another date. He also stated that out of the many people that made it inside, only two visas were issued. I am distraught, angry, confused and I don’t know if what he is telling me is the truth or what is exactly going on. Did anyone else come across this issue, today, OR in the past? Am I being lied too? Could this have really happened? I will write the consulate this weekend to inquire about it, but in the meantime, I have told him to man up and go back to the Embassy on Monday and demanded a date or demand an interview right then. His personality is more of a follower than a leader, so I know he cowers easily, but if it was me, I would have put up a fight. Someone told me there were certain “inquiry days” where he can go in and ask questions, but they didn’t know anything else and suggested I post something here. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, answers or suggestions? I am open to anything so please don’t worry about hurting my feelings. I need the truth, advice or anything that comes my way regarding this issue and I will be grateful for any assistance I can get. God bless you all and I look forward to your replies! :help::angry::(

So sorry for your concerns and troubles. You could confirm the appointment issue with an email to the embassy. So write to them with an inquiry. Ask them when are they rescheduling his appointment.

I have not heard that there are inquiry days but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Ask that question as well in your email to them.

As Americans we tend to know our rights and demand them, but in Nigeria things are different even at the US Embassy, so being demanding or pushy could back fire on you, so please use caution and discreet with being demanding. I have heard that applications can be pushed back with the wrong attitude. Could be true or fabrication? but with the way things move there I would not push things.

In any case, you should be able to confirm or disclaim the appointment rescheduling. Pray and be patient until you find out the truth.

Good luck!

I have never heard of them doing that . There was another couple there yesterday maybe they should shed some light on things. When we were there they just kept going and some people exited later that the posted hours. However 15 sounds like a CO's load. Maybe someone was ill ? People that had their interviews moved have gotten emails before the date from the embassy.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

So why would u think ur man would be lying about such.it can happen and should ve bn emailed to him if he had bn corresponding with them via email prior his appointment.

The Nigerian Govt has left its citizen at the mercy of foreigners and the US n its security personnels is the master of it.

You can go to the embassy to make enqury,u will b directed to the site and their no roaming at the embassy.

What u can do is call the embassy and vent your anger, cos few Nigerians wld do that to avoid set backs.

Dont worry, what matters is a positive result n i hope its pretty soon

We haven't had the K1 interview yet, but my fiance had this happen to him at the french consulate in Ouaga. He was told to pick up his student visa on a particular date, and when he got there it was a holiday and he (and everyone else) was told that the consulate had made a mistake with the date and to come back the following week. I've never been to Nigeria, but my experience in Ouaga is that embassies are a little more...laid back, shall we say, than in other regions. So it wouldn't surprise me.
