took about a week or so, if you need to get stuff done you can go back in a day or so and get a print off with the number on it

Oh, really? The woman told me to wait a week or two because they had to verify my information with DHS. I can go back in a few days and get the number? That would really help since my husband needs to add me to his insurance through work and they're wanting my SSN.

I got mine in 7 days exactly and then I went in for my name change on a Monday and had the new card on Wednesday. Amazingly fast for a government document...in my opinion/experience lol

And I was lazy too with my AOS stuff... took my time, did a form a day. Tried not to make it such an issue this time, we've had enough stress in the past year!

I'm still being lazy and slowly getting our AOS stuff together. Still need to make photocopies of my passport, get passport pics taken, etc. Forms are all filled out though. That's a step!

Applied for my SSN today. How long did it take everyone here to receive their card in the mail?

I have my SSN number under my maiden name, can I still go ahead with the AOS/EAD and AP ? or do I have to change the SSN to my married name befor I do the AOS process? congrats on the forms being complete..

I think you can still go ahead with it. Not 100% sure though.

Do I need my SSN to file for AOS/EAD/AP? I filed for it, but I'd like to send in my AOS next week and I'm not sure I'll have my card by then. Will it be any issue?

It took exactally 7 days for my husband to get his SSN card , and no, you do not need a SSN to file AOS/EAD/AP

I looked into this and filed with my SSN in my maiden name. I'll change it when I get my Green Card.

Did you file your AOS in your maiden name as well?

Nope, married name. I read some threads here that it's a lot easier to just change the name on the SSN afterwards, so that's what we decided to do.

Okay, thanks. I'm confused as to whether or not I should wait for my SSN. I've already applied for it, but I don't have the number yet. I'm worried that if I don't put the number on the forms, and they do a check into my name, they'll find the SSN or something. Not that I'm sure it would matter ...

Finally got the NOA emails tonight for AOS. I was starting to worry!

How's everyone else faring? Let me know if the chart needs any updates :)

I still have to apply for my SSN. I am hoping to do that this week. I also have to see a civil surgeon to get my vaccinations transcribed. Gah.

I am filling out my forms though, and getting everything together and ready to be copied!

I have my forms filled out and went to get the passport pictures taken last weekend, so it's just a matter of photocopying my passport and printing out some supporting evidence for the I-864. Can't file until after Thanksgiving anyway, need to wait for my money to get transferred to my husband's account so we can pay that awful fee.

The fees! No wonder so many people immigrate illegally. And the daunting paperwork...ugh! I got word that they got my AOS pkg and I should receive word in 7 - 10 days. Sure didn't take them that long to cash our check (notice, American spelling) though!!
