I am compiling a list of my and my husbands assets for the i864. For our incomes, I will be providing employment letters, IRS transcripts and copies of W2s. However, for other assets like cars, property, 401Ks, IRAs, investments,savings accounts etc., I was wondering what, if anything, I have to provide copies of (like the deeds for the property and titles to the cars, as well as may be last months statements for the investments,savings and retirement plans or Notarized memos on Letterhead from the institutions stating the fact that we have those accounts and the current balances in them ) OR do i just write down the balances of those on the form and not worry about it.

I don't want to have to go through the trouble of doing all of that if our incomes are more than enough to cover the 125% of the poverty line.

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you :}

I would say do NOT fill out the optional part of the I-864, because if you do, you will have to show evidence of those assets. If your incomes are above the poverty line then you don't need to submit any additional evidence.

Or just enough assets if you are a little bit short on the income side of things, and use just the most liquid like brokerage accounts, bank accounts, etc if you need to do any at all. By the way, no need to submit W-2's, 1099, etc if you submit transcripts from the IRS.

Note the word "Optional" in the instruction section just above the asset section of the I-864. If in come is clearly sufficient, simply leave all asset questions blank.

Thank you! I did not realize that i don't need to submit W2s if I have the IRS transcripts. Good Point! :}

I see! I just thought that if it is on the form you are supposed to declare all liquid assets. Silly me, this is not a loan application after all :} Thank you!
