Forum is an avenue for undiluted information to be shared.I have enjoyed being here from day one.Reading people stories has really geared me positively towards achieving a positive preparation for my K1 Visa

My fiancee officially becomes a us citizen today (9am American Time).I have being reading alot from people and how easy and hard for them to get Visa. Each situation has being different based on countries and information supplied.I will be as open as i can to get a more clearing opinion from the house.I am divulging the information with the hope of getting a more clearifying answer to my doubts

My woman is 10 years older than me and she has kids. She is a christian while i am moslem. She has visited me twice in the last couple of years.i was denied a student visa back in 2008.We have known each other since 2007.I love her so much and no day has passed without us chatting either online or phone for the last one year.I love her and my family loves her as well.I love her kids and they do love me as well.We have never being both Married at all and she has no criminal record of any sort. She is originally from Canada and am a Nigerian

Please candid review with not criticism of my country of origin is needed. We have records of our closeness and ties.I am hoping the good readers (though bad critics is allowed) in the house will reply to this. She would be filing next week, cos we have being waiting for her papers and she gets it today.

Please highlight essentially where you think the red flag would be (am an optimist, but listen to pessimist).

I know one mans food can be another's poison.what works for me might not work for you and this has always being my Guild

The biggest red flag is your country. You really need to move over to your regional forum and gain all the insight you can about that consulate and what has been trouble for others.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

I probably thought any of the above mentioned would be a RED FLAG (which i prepared to defend).I hope my country becomes more stable and corrupt free prior to my interview in coming months. Thanks Barron

Each of the things you mention is a red flag and add a weight to the load of things to overcome. The Nigerian stone tends to be larger than others. You have done a good job at identifying the red flags. For each list 3 things that show you have a valid relationship in spite of the red flag, do not repeat anything on the "good list" . If you can do this easily you are probably ok.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

As others have said, all those things you mentioned are red flags. Nigeria has a real bad reputation for fraud; usually other "less fraudulent" countries are given benefits of doubt, Nigerians are presumed crooked and you have to prove them wrong. BTW I am originally from Nigeria and now a US citizen. The fact that you originally applied for Student visa and was denied will prompt them to believe that you are just looking for another way to get to the US. You are Moslem and she is a christian; if you are a moslem( especially from the North), it will be assumed that it is unusual for Moslems to marry a non moslem person (especially from that part of the country); then the age factor, they would want to know if she has met your parents and if they approve or not and why can't you marry in Nigeria and why older woman and why can't she marry you and live in Nigeria. Believe me they do understand the culture in Nigeria and will scrutinize the living ####### out you. Trust me you have ALL RED FLAGS imaginable to them. I am not saying it is not possible, but be prepared. Wishing all the best.

The biggest red flag you need to consider is, is it normal for a Muslim male to marry a non-Muslim female in my country, are you willing to ditch Muslim faith and become a Christian like your wife or is your wife willing to be a Muslim like her husband.
