When Chinook and I are in Manila, we stay at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino. We highly recommend it.

For a budget hotel, we recommend the CityState Tower Hotel.

I stayed at 2 hotels while in Manila, one more of a budget place, and one to live it up a little B-)

Pearl Lane (close to the Pearl Garden, but NOT that hotel) was an OK, $40something per night kind of place. A little bit of noise from outside, and inside due to the heavy doors closing on other rooms. Other than that clean, a decent breakfast, and only a block from Robinsons.

I also stayed at the H2O and payed considerably less than the 6000 pisos a night quoted above. Through Agoda I got 1 night free for every 2 booked so my bill came out to $70something per night. A real good price for bay view and 4 star service, IMHO. The only bad thing was the outside bar, who's music could get loud enough to hear over the room air conditioning. An inside (with those funky aquariums) or city view room could avoid that bar noise, if that would bother you.

I have to agree that, if you don't mind spending money, Diamond Hotel is great.

But now we're looking for the cheaper places; so Diamond is off the list for the next trip to Manila.

Hi, just wanna ask how you booked the hotel for your fiancee? If you used credit card, did they ask for your card when she checked in? i just wanna know so we can save on charges on sending money thru western union.. Thanks in advance!

I booked and paid with my credit card online through Agoda.com . They said that you will have to send a scan copy of your ID and credit card used , buy they did not ask my Fiancee for it . She just printed out and presented the Voucher that is sent to you after payment and confirmation . I sent a scan copy of my ID and credit to her . They may ask or may not ask for it .

My fiance told me "nothing expensive" The question is, how do you define expensive? compared to what is appropriate? the hotel suggestions here help a lot. If has given me much food for thought. the best part is this is all subjective to the person. So no one is right or wrong......

When I visited the Philippines, my fiance had never been to manila. So we searched online together and ended up at the Best Western and was very skeptical. But was so pleased with the cost per night and the cleanliness and look of the hotel..it was great!!! Breakfast there cant be beat....very close to US Embassy and St Lukes. I think the cost was only 35.00 us dollars a night. I was not disappointed in the least, was actually surprised. Ive also heard that the Lotus Garden was very nice and affordable.

The lotus garden is in walking distance of resturants and Robinsons mall, thats your best bet. If you run out of things to do you can easily walk around to the mall

My wife also stayed there with her sister. It's on the same street as St. Luke's Medical, and it's on a side street, so it's a good option if you don't want to stay right in the middle of the nightlife. They also had a security guard and taxis right outside, so my wife felt pretty safe. The rooms are simple, but it's affordable and has a great location.
