DS-156 expiration date

So, we have our interview scheduled for June 16; and then we noticed (actually, she noticed) that the DS-156 says it expires 5/31/2011?!?!

So, do you think this is going to be a problem for those of us with June interviews?

And I'm sorry if this has already been asked and answered. I haven't been too busy on the forum lately.

As long as there isn't a newer version of the form available then the expired form is acceptable.

When I submitted the I-130 for my second stepson on Apr 7th, 2011 the form was expired on Jan 31, 2011. They accepted it no problem since there wasn't a newer version issued yet.

Normally, they accept previous editions unless it says otherwise on the USCIS website. Well it's either that, or I have to find someone that can outrun time since my interview is June 1st.

Since it's an online version I'd recommend those of you with interviews later on to check the link and see if they've updated the form. Otherwise I wouldn't be too concerned - you've already filled out your info and most importantly, sent packet 3 back saying you have gathered all required documents and ready for the interview.

If anything, call Department of State : )

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Based on the information on the Dubai Consulate's website, I think you do indeed have to create the form again.

What happens when I fill in the DS-156 General Application Form and click “submit”?

Clicking ‘submit” does not transmit your application to the U.S. Consulate. It simply generates a barcode, which is visible above the photograph square when you print out the application form. The barcode allows us to quickly data enter your application, which reduces the time that you have to wait for your visa interview. The U.S. Consulate does not receive or accept any paperwork in advance of your interview, so please bring your application form to the visa interview along with your supporting documents.

http://dubai.usconsulate.gov/dubai/faqs_visa.html

So apparently all the online form does is create the barcode and help you fill out the form. If that is the case, the embassy is probably expecting a non-expired form, especially since it clearly says "Previous Editions Obsolete" at the bottom of the printed form itself.

You may want to ask the embassy for sure, but based on this, I think a new one needs to be created if the one you have is expired.
