Hi to all of u, I have this question and plz I need help cos it's kinda stressful. Well whne my Hubby sent the I 130 petition he used my maiden name and now I'm having my passport and I wanna use my husband's family name in it cos I've heard that if I'm gonna use my maiden name all the documents will be with my maiden name and to change that later it's gonna coast some extra. So my question is would it be ok if my I130 at the uscis would have my maiden name on it and once I get to the stage of nvc I would send them the copy of the passport with my husband name in it? will it be confusing to them? Thank u all!!

Don't worry. Just put your current name on the DS230 when you send it to the NVC and have hubby write a letter of explanation that you've changed your name after the process started.

I did the same thing. My husband called USCIS but it seemed that they didn't need this info updated. It will be needed for the NVC part, though because that's when you send them a copy of your passport. So just update this info as your case gets to NVC.
