I see everyone talking about "Appointment Letters" all the time. I don't think we've gotten anything like this from the Embassy. I called today to ask some other questions about the interview and they're telling me I need to wait for a "Letter of Eligibility". I asked when will that be sent and he didn't know...

What are "Appointment Letters" and "Letters of Eligibility", and why wont they let us schedule an interview without them???

You don't have to wait for the letter of eligibility to schedule an appointment.

If you have your NVC case number already, you can try scheduling an interview appointment online or by phone. The operative word here is "try" because you would have to make several attempts before getting through. It depends on when your case number is already in the US embassy system. You may want to include interview scheduling among your daily routines for a week or two :hehe: That's how long it may take.

Once you are able to schedule an appointment, either through online or by phone, you can then download the appointment letter which you should bring with you during the interview.

From my personal experience, calling the US number seems to produce a faster result. But it could have just been a coincidence.

Thanks Grace... So what if I do schedule online? That shouldn't be as difficult as TRYING to call in, right? Or is it hard to schedule online too? I called that U.S. number, and I'm guessing it was routed to the Philippines because the guy had the accent. Anyway, he couldn't hear most of what I was saying... So, hopefully online works better.

Hi, so long as your case number is in the system already, it should be easy, either online or by calling. (I personally prefer calling). And don't mind the under-informed call agents who insists you should have your eligibility letter first. If your number is not yet in, you would get a "case number not valid" feedback from the online scheduler.

By the way, forgot to mention that you gotta pay the visa fee first before trying to schedule.
