Thanks, everyone! ;) And congrats to all those that also recently added a family member! Whew...it's a bit overwhelming, but probably one of the greatest experiences ever.

My wife was a little nervous about me being in the room and seeing everything. Little did either of us know that not only would I see her hoohoo but I would have a front row seat participating in it...the main nurse and I were the ones who held her legs every time she pushed and the doc was coming in and out of the room most of the time so it was just the two of us for like 90% of it (he had another delivery at the same time). As we got closer to the end, more and more people started showing up along with all sorts of alien looking tools. Pretty big baby at 8 lbs. 8 oz, 21 1/4 inches...would have been bigger too as my wife hadn't been having any contractions yet but her water suddenly broke and the baby came early.

Anyway, we're finally getting used to it a bit and getting over the feeling we may break our son every time we barely move him. lol

What did you name the boy?

Jordan Alexander. We figured he'd have some good flexibility with Alexander.

So true. I've gotten about 10 hrs sleep this whole week...my poor wife has gotten about half that!

Someone asked the name already. I'm curious too. Did you go with a patronym? And are you guys going to do dual citizenship? How about language?

Didn't go with a patronym...just 2 names we could finally agree on. And by that I mean 2 names she picked that I finally agreed on. ;) I doubt we'll go for dual citizenship...haven't really looked into what all we would need to get UA citizenship but I'm paranoid about him getting involuntarily drafted or something if we ever do go back to visit. The wife really wants him to be tri-lingual, but we'll see how that goes.

Congratulations!

We have a six-month old girl. During the scary first few weeks (Why is she making that raspy noise? Why isn't she making any noise? How did she become a volcano of spitup? Is she too cold? Too hot? Is her poop supposed to look like that? etc.), we constantly had to remind ourselves that there are 6.75 billion people on the planet, and many of them managed to survive all sorts of less than ideal circumstances, including dumbass parents ("I bet my 2-month old would love a Coke!") You'll do great.

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008

Congratulations!

I'm not going to lie and this is 100% true...at some point my mother started giving me a bottle of chocolate milk and a bottle of Coca Cola every night. I ended up having 3 broken arms by the time I was 7! That said, we're going to be doing things a little differently!

It's cool. She's always had a problems with projecting her own food desires on others. Every pet we ever had was like 2x-3x the weight they were supposed to be. Other than that, I had the best parents ever. ;)

We would do Russian names but we are both in agreement to live childless :blush: Her mother has been yearning to be a Babushka. She says to just have one and she'll take it care of it full time :rofl:

Wow...I thought MY wife was the only RUB woman who doesn't want children. :lol: But yes, we get flak about it too. :D

My MIL was all over my wife to have kids until her sister popped out twins. Since then, we haven't heard a peep!

And yes, she too is all about keeping her figure. "I not will be mess my figure for horrible little monster, blat. And if my sister have a twins, blat, probably I will be have a twins as well. No f'king way, blat."

I also worry about that...

I think it's nice to have names that work in both cultures. And if your kid is going to be Orthodox, they need to have a name they can christened with.

I've always thought if we were to go down that road our offspring would be able to switch back and forth and nobody would notice.
