Good Morning VJr's

I have a few questions and hopping someone knows answers.

I called the NVC on 5/2 and got my NVC case number but when I went to check on the automated system they didn't have a record of it. Is this normal?

Also, is there a way to track my k-1 application once it leaves the NVC to Consulate in Vietnam.

Any information would be appreciated!

Thanks much!

The automated system doesn't work for K1 visas, you have to speak with a real person

Correct, and no, there is no way to track "your" package from NVC to the Consulate because there's no way you'll ever know for sure what day or in which package your file was shipped.

Straight Talk Member,

Someone posted that if you go to the DHL tracking website and enter something like "EXP 27 APR 2011A" you'll get a listing on shipments from the NVC to the various consulates.

When I called the NVC they told me that my application was sent on 5/2 and sure enough I found the item with tracking number.

I have to tell you that there are some shrewd folks on this site.

usually it is more useful to know the official status on the casefile, and you can get that from

calling both DoS and NVC, depending on which stage the casefile is in.

please review -> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

Dodi's posted how to call, and further down, I've posted what you can get, and when.

*** K-1 application? sorry, not a K-3 visa topic, moving to K-1 forum ***

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Nevertheless, this statement is absolutely correct. "There's no way you'll ever know for sure what day or in which package your file was shipped." When NVC tells you your package was shipped, the operator only knows on which day the file was cleared to be shipped. They have no information as to which day the mail room actually shipped the file, because they have no access to that information. You can track packages, you just don't know which package YOUR case file is in.

Once the file has left NVC, you want to know the case status from the Dept. of State Visa information line. They can tell you when the Consulate actually did something with the file. That's what you want to know.
