Think of the alternative in the OPs case. No co sponsor. No valid I-134. No significant other coming to the US. No happiness. Absolute Despair. Loneliness. I like the other alternative. This can be a temporary fix. Again, we need to think outside the box. The CO looks at current income and what will they see at the next interview; many pay stubs and letter of employment. This is a slam dunk. Remember that this economy is in the garbage, so beggars cannot be too choosy.

I completely agree. If you cannot make minimum requirement which is pretty low, the chances are that you do not have a very interesting job anyway. You may as well get a decent job. I would say that this is a VERY good option. I would not hesitate a second if I needed to do this just to be with my loved one.

Yes if your co sponser has a wife that works as well they can fill out a 1-864a form to combine incomes they'd have to make enough to support themselves, and the the intending immigrant, or whoever else is in their house hold. if its just the cosponser and their spouse, and the intending immigrant thats three people. they would need to make 125 over poverty line for 3 people and having money transfered to your husbands account for him to show them is a great idea, i am having my husband basically depositing all his earnings in my account to go towards that as well! good luck dont give up all you got to do is get a co sponser that is going to meet the guildlines! DONT GIVE UP!!

Yes, you can use your assets--this is directly from the I-864 instructions:

What If I Cannot Meet the Income Requirements?

....unless the requirement can be met using any combination of the following:

The value of your assets, the assets of any household member who has signed a Form I-864A, or the assets of the intending immigrant...

You may use the assets of the intending immigrant regardless of where he or she resides. The intending immigrant must provide evidence of such assets with this form. Form I-864A is not required to document the intending immigrant's assets.

you have to have a decent education in life to make decent money people like me for example are stuck with ####### jobs not making enough to get by hardly, not everyone can get a great job just like that

One post interjecting a different case has been split off to make its own thread which can now be found here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/307919-will-we-be-ok-with-my-dad-as-co-sponsor/page__gopid__4642319#entry4642319

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

It sounds like you need a good paying job now. Forget begging for co-sponsors. The trucking industry is in desperate need of man power. Don't know what you are doing now. But, it sounds to me like extra income is in order. I suggest you try trucking. You can train with one of the bigger companies, work for them for one year and move on to a better paying company. You will start at around $40,000 depending on miles driven. You will have a job for life. after about four years, you will be averaging 60-70K per year. Only a suggestion. You can start as early as next week if you do some serious investigating. I would try SWIFT Transport. They are the biggest operation in the US now and are always looking for drivers. If you have a decent driving record, no criminal record and a good work history, you will be a good candidate. Good luck. Alaways try to think outside that tiny box.

This sounds like a good option. I have a friend who is an ex Thai Buddhist monk and his English was terrible,

but he is back in the US now as a private citizen and is planning to go into trucking in Texas.

Since the OP is the US citizen, he (or she) would have an easier time getting into trucking. good.gif

I seriously adore your love of trucking. It's like...your solution to everything but it's very admirable.

Is your husband self employed or a wage/salary earner?

Yes, any US citizen or Green Card holder can be a joint sponsor.

Hi...!! I would like to ask if there's any difference documentation between self employer and an employee? Because my husband (the petitioner) is a self employed but he doesn't make that much money. Could you please help in letting me know what is the minimum earner does he have to make per year?

Thanks in advance

Well, my husband (USC) is already in Germany and he has permission to stay for 1 year. If anything, we need to take a German class that's it.

The job situation here in Germany is pretty bad. Even when you are well educated, you don't always find a job. This is what bothers me the most. I don't want to be depended on goverment money so I can live my life. They limit you very much and want to see every income you make. (They talk about forbidding these people to gamble for example). And under this circumstances I cannot imagine myself having children.

The only thing I like here is that I have health insurance for me and my husband.

The minimum earnings are the same for employed and self employed. For the self employed the earnings that are considered will come from line 22 of the latest tax return. What they need to be depends on the household size.

Oh No...Don't lose hope..

I feel for you too...Our I-130 has been approved however we cannot proceed yet due to lack of co-sponsor =( Since neither of us wants him to quit his job in SG and move to US to secure a job as this is a big risk, we can only rely on co-sponsors OR 100K ++ cold cash in our bank accounts. :crying:

In HIS time and will I know he will provide everything we need. Just keep the faith. =)

I thank you all very much your support.

I was told that, if I show my assets to make up the difference, I'd need to show 3x the value which is needed. Example: The difference to the poverty line and the actual income (of the joint sponsor) is $3000. I'd need $9000 assets/savings to make up for that. I don't have this kind of money.

My question is: If I put my money in my husband's bank account and he shows his bank statement, re-does his I-864, does he have to make up 3x the difference too or will it be fine with the actual amount of money which is missing and combine this with the joint sponsor?

The co-sponsor is re-doing his I-864 as we speak. We hope he has enough assets to put in. How many times of the difference does he have to have?

You or your husband have to have x3 the co-sponsor would need x5 the shortfall in assets.
