Current interview wait times in Lima, Peru

Hi Everyone,

My wife and two step-children live in Peru and we have been waiting for our cases to be complete. Finally, as of yesterday (4/29/2011) all three cases are complete. My question(s), what are the current wait times for when we will have the interview? Our case has one hurdle which is we have court issued permission for the kids to leave the country but it expires June 15th. When we sent all the documents from the checklist to the NVC we had our attorney request an expedited interview date siting the permission to leave issue and we provided evidence (translated copies of the court order to allow the kids to leave the country) about this as well. I plan on calling the NVC to attempt to get more information BUT I also wanted to post up here to see if anyone had any current/recent information about the wait times for interviews in Lima, etc...

Any information, advice, etc., etc., etc...would be greatly helpful and appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Joshua

Go to this link: http://www.visajourn...2C27%2C28&cfl=0 It's timelines for those in Peru doing an IR-1/CR-1 visa. Click on each of their timelines and look at their case complete and interview dates. This will give you an idea of the time frame between case complete and interview for those in Peru. The steps I just described are what I did when I'm trying to figure out time frames for Canada.

EDIT: I just looked quickly, looks like it's about 1-2 months from CC to interview. But there's not a lot of data, so it's hard to be sure.

Timeline

I'm not sure if there are different wait times for different visas. For the K1, we received our NOA2 at the end of January and we were scheduled to have our interview a month later. However, the embassy never contacted us and it took almost a week to get in touch with them (due to holidays, timing, etc) so by the time we did contact them and found out about the actual date, we had to reschedule since we didn't have enough time to get everything together. I wasn't expecting them to be that fast. I think, in general, the US embassy in Lima is less busy than other embassies and you may be able to get an interview rather quickly. You can also request an earlier date/time. They don't have to honor the request but they might!

Call the embassy and explain the situation. Many times they are willing to work with you.

Hi Everyone,

I just want to thank everyone for your replies and help!!! I found out on Saturday (via the AVR) that our cases were sent to the Embassy. When I called the NVC today I found out that our request for an expedited interview was accepted by the Embassy and that our cases/documents were sent to the Embassy on Friday. Once they have the cases/documents the Embassy will schedule the interview (they will schedule because it's an accepted expedite request), etc...My wife will be calling the Embassy towards the end of the week to follow up and make sure they received the package, etc...I also tracked it via the DHL site but I don't see any results going to Peru on the 5th of May (the case supposedly was sent on the 6th of May) BUT I do see a result when I look at the 3rd of May, etc...but the package wasn't accepted (twice) because the Embassy was closed and now the status of the shipment states "Shipment on Hold"...Not sure what exactly that means and/or if it's our package, etc...Either way, we'll give it until mid/end of this week and my wife will start calling the Embassy, etc...

Again MANY thanks to all not only for replying BUT for just being here and supporting this whole community!! It's nice to know I/we aren't alone! :-)
