Some countries have mandatory administrative processing. Pakistan is one of them. It all depends if it is done before or after his visa interview. We were in AP for 17 months (several years ago, it has now sped up) because he is from a country considered to be a sponsor of terrorism.

Ok I looked up the Pakistan embassy page: http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas.html

"Some visa applications require additional administrative processing, which requires some additional time. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of application."

That doesn't sound mandatory to me. Just out of curiosity, where did you get that info that it was mandatory?

Well I assume you've got your Visa now, sorry they put you through that, and congratulations!

Alright I have checked several (approved visa) VJ Pakistan timelines, especially the most recent 11.

Good news for the folks applying, no need to worry at least 4 or 5 got their Visa within a 3 days of the interview and the average looked like it was 200 days or less from NOA1. The others got their Visa within a month or 2 after interview. I flew thru the others and there were a couple that waited nearly 2 years.

But looking at it I would say for recent petitions anyway, it doesn't look like mandatory APs, more like what you would expect out of any embassy.

Well I guess I couldn't leave this one alone cause the Cyprus embassy is just south of Turkey and if there was even a possibility of something like a mandatory AP it would annoy the heck out of me!

OP- I just sent mine off in the last 2 days as well (fiance in Colombia). Mine was close to 300 pages also. You should be fine as you mentioned sending passport stamps. But 7-8 months? Doubtful. It's taking 6 to 6.5 or 7 months now for NOA2's at VSC, which means at least 9-12 months total, no? I assume by the time they get to the April filers it will take 9 maybe 10 months for the NOA2s? At least that is the trend. I'm planning on at least a 12 month process from the day I get the NOA1

Djstorm... is that all you sent? I read on here that itineraries mean very little. Passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel invoices... that's what they're looking for in the "havving met in last 2 years." Gathering from what I have read... itineraries and Visa, not sure I'd say that's going to work based on what I've read.

Good luck to you both.

Flight Itineraries can be used as the equivalent of a boarding pass. Visas are proof that you`ve entered the country. Anything that validates that you`ve spent time at your beneficiaries country are items that can be served as proof that you`ve met each other within the last 2 years. I forgot to mention that I`ve included Passport Stamps but no hotel confirmation since I stayed over at my friends uncle`s house. Good luck to you too!

Oh, I'm happy to hear that someone else is doing something very similar. If you get the chance, please post something here when you get the NOA1 or the g1145 notification thing so I'll have a better idea of it. I included all that stuff too...best of luck to you as well. Thanks for your help.

I will deff keep you on the loop

You are awesome thanks for researching the info for us. So just to clarify people have gotten their visas 200 days after NOA 1 was sent correct? Hopefully my fiance wont be the one getting her visa within a month or 2 after the interview :hehe: Anyways this deff looks like great news since I`m hoping to have my fiance here by January or February if all goes well.

Yes and several people got it in even less.

You can see for yourself. Hopefull this timeline link works the way I want it to.

Pakistan

You see the column (I think next to the last one) with the number of days, if the number of days has an * by it, they received their Visa. Then you can click on the persons profile and click on their timeline to see the actual dates they put in.

Thanks. I sent it to the lockbox facility in Lewisville, TX but since I live in California it will probably be sent to CA one, if I'm not mistaken. I did include proof of having met (ticket itineraries, passport stamps, etc) as well. I'm happy to hear that it is not completely determined that he/we will end up in AP. Thank you!

Great! Glad to see your case is probably going to be at CSC. I live in Cali too! Don't stress about AP. No need. This process is stressful enough. I know it is easier said than done, but just try to take it as it comes. And Inshallah it will just be a smooth ride for you.

Which point are we talking madatory APs? Before the interview or at the interview. Your comment "more like what you would expect out of an embassy", what do you mean?

My point is there is no mandatory AP after the interview and I showed it by example of recent approvals which several showed only 3 days or less wait after tthe interview their timeline shows they received the visa, also many showed approval 200 days or less since receiving NOA1. You can check that out for yourself as I showed in my next to previous post.

I also gave you a link to the Islamabad embassy nonimmagrant Visa page wich said some applications may go under AP.

I don't really understand what pre interview AP is. If there is mandatory pre interview AP, then that would mean a 2 month delay at least, but as I saw several cases had their Visas 150 days or less after NOA1. But what makes sense to me is that there has to be a reason that AP was triggered such as Name checks possibly matching ther criminal or terrorrist database, suspiciaon of fraud, relationship etc.

So what I think normal is, is that AP should only get triggered when there is reasonable doubt. You don't put everybody in prison assuming they are guilty and then make them go through trial to prove they are innocent.

I went a did some research of my own. The consulate in Abu Dhabi has varied results. I'm a bit worried. It seems that others from middle eastern counries are put on AP, but females from the Philipines go right on through

I am so scared!!! I have been obsessing over this all day! My fiance is a Pakistani National, but he was born and raised in the Emirates. He has never spent more than 2 months in Pakistan. Also, we both have previous marriages, I have kids, and I am older than him (only by 5 years). OMG! I am so convinced we will get AP.

Can anyone calm me down? I need sleep and we still have over 2 months until our interview! :(

I was told that flight itineraries are not proof of having met in the last 2 years. I was going to send in all my flight itineraries over the last 2 years... about 40 itineraries in all and I was advised here that it's not proof. Boarding passes and flight itineraries are not the same. Flight itineraries don't prove you got on the plane. Passport stamps should do the trick for you. Just passing along the advice I was given when I was putting together my packet.

Flight Itineraries can be used as the equivalent of a boarding pass. I forgot to mention that I`ve included Passport Stamps but no hotel confirmation since I stayed over at my friends uncle`s house. Good luck to you too!

Whoa... consider the worst. If you get AP is it really that big of a deal. In the end you will be with your significant other. It's only time. No use losing sleep over it.... take that attitude and life will be much easier.

Yes, it would be highly unfair to make someone wait years in AP. I guess I was trying to point out that you have no control over it, so don't let it wreck your life. Stay strong, regardless of the amount of time it takes. Like someon pointed out, it's just a bump in the road in the whole scheme of life... albeit a big bump if it is years. But it's something you can't control.
