It has been a while since we had to get passport pictures taken.

Now I need to get pictures for myself and the girls this weekend in preparation for the medical and visas. I checked yesterday in walmart and the fee there was $12 for a set of two. Since I need three sets each that works out to be over $100. Not a problem if that is the going rate.

I am going to call about to see if I can find anything cheaper. My guess is I won't.

Anyone have a place they used that was cheaper? Suggestions?

As always....ty!

I'd see if you could get something cheaper! An independant photo supply shop might be able to reduce the charge given you have to have so many to buy. I thought they'd be free at Walmart by now since they're always rolling back their prices! :P

You could try the local photo store in one of your malls ... That is where I got mine taken but I can't remember what I paid for them ...

Haha! You made me laugh on that one!

Yikes! Well of course keep in mind I have been given a price and I am sure that is without tax. Have to tack on another 14% to that price. Argh!

Yeah I did some in downtown London and it was $20 and the girl wrote on the back of two and then put them in the envelope when ink was wet, so when I got home most of them had ink on my face. DUH. $12 is a good price, will they do any specs (us and canada) at walmart?

Walmart here in Brantford....it is $12 for two pics and they are Canadian Passport size. Which is the size needed for the medical and the visas.

I thought Canada and US now have the same specs ?? I had my pictures for our original I-129F from Sears here in Illinois ... Then I had my pictures for my medical and interview taken at a photo shop in the mall back in Canada ... Then for my AOS/EAD I had my pictures taken again here in Illinois at the same Sears ... Sears was actually cheaper (I think it was $14.95 US)and they gave you 4 of them as the standard package ...

You could try Sears but I would expect the prices would be different from Canada to US ...

Well I have called around and nobody will give me a deal that works out less than the walmart price. Go figure! Not even two lil shops that are privately owned. The last response I got was "they are polaroid....that isn't cheap you know?!"

Ugh!

So it looks like $12 x 9 = $108 + tax $124!!!

Damn!!

Ouch!! That's a lot of money! Poloroid...geesh, they take digital pics, and print them on photo paper! What a rip off. Sorry you have to pay that price. I got my first pictures done across the street where I work. 4 pictures, $6.95 plus tax. I thought that was good. Seems it was!

Carla (F)

Pssssst glad you had a laugh about Walmart  Any little joy we can get from this process is a bonus!

Try Costco. They were cheap... about $6-7 for 2 pictures and my fiance had no problems with them for the medical or visa apps.

I'm gonna give them a call. A lil drive but for the right savings it would be well worth it!! I'll post back

Ok I called the one closest to me and they do passport pics! Cheap cheap cheap!! If you have a costco membership. The cost for two pics (one set) is $5.99!!! That is awesome! But in my case I don't have a costco membership so I would have to have that and it costs $55. LoL So in my case that puts me no further ahead. But I wanted to share that with those of you that may be looking for pics in the future and are members. Go to Costco!!

Walmart passport horror story.

I went and got mine done there, get them home and measure them. They are 1 3/4 wide. Bad news bears. So I said screw it, and had my Dad take them with the digital camera against a white wall. They turned out clearer and with better lighting than the too small pics from Walmart. AND once I got the prints done, they cost me all of 4 cents a piece. :)

P.S. I asked this question a few months ago, if you ignore the people who are jerks about it, you'll find some good recommendations.
