you need a visa instruction.

i am Japanese and applied for my police certificate in Japan for my K-1. so the situation will be a little different from yours....but there are the things i needed to submit to the Japanese police:

1. Jyumin-hyo (something like a record for your residence in Japan; if you don't like in Japan now then i doubt you need to submit this since you won't have one.

2. passport.

3. Japanese passport size photo (4.5cmX3.5cm).

4. fee of 400yen.

5. NOA2 AND visa instruction which is inside the packet sent by your local American embassy after the USCIS issued a NOA2.

make sure to call the "prefectural" police where you've stayed. what you need to submit depends on a prefecture.

good luck!

My wife had to have the actual MNL number before the US Embassy in Manila would give her the letter. Once she got the letter and carrried it to the Japanese Embassy to request the clearance, it took about a month to receive. It is provided in a sealed envelope that you are not permitted to open. My wife actually asked for a copy for her records and they said no. Whatever was inside must have been ok because she said they barely looked at it.

ay sis, i looked for Aichi-ken police headquarters pero wala naman specific na namention na docs na kailangan. they have a phone number though that you can call if you want, perhaps they could tell you specifically what to do. here is the number :052-951-1611

in my case i have to show them my passport and original letter from US Embassy in Tokyo with my name and case number. they copied the pages of my passport and the letter. mas mabuti siguro if you submit the NVC letter (it will have your MNL case #). kung sa manila ka naman nakatira i think it will be easy to apply. pero sis 2-3 months ata according to Japan Immigration.
