When my woman visited me back in November,we both got engaged in front of my family,The party wasnt meant for us,but we wore traditional clothes that i made for her.

Is it wrong to get engaged and file for I-129F form.Could our getting engaged be against it,even though we are not married.

We are yet to file until,until she gets her certificate come May.i need an urgent response in regard this,before we fill the form and submit the application come May ending

The purpose of an I-129F is for people who have gotten engaged but not married.

As NigeriaorBust said, as long as it does not look too much like a traditional wedding ceremony, then it should not cause any difficulty.

I agree with Nigeriaorbust as long as it doesnt look like a traditional marriage ur good do walk a fine line when it comes to engagement parties and the Naija embassy..... Good Luck!

In Nigeria - does what you did (the engagement, traditional clothes) = "marriage, just without the license"? (or something similar).

Nigeria has a tough embassy - and if they look on this as a "marriage" then you could have an issue.

Nope,it is not regarded.what is regarded is the introduction of the two families.Engagement though brings attention/awareness btw family,but this wasnt in anyway documented,except for me giving her a ring.Going to the Registry is highly counted in Nigeria as a proper marriage (cos its documented legally).

It's a spousal visa issued when the petitioner and beneficiary have been married for less than 2 years. The CR stands for Conditional Resident.

Additionally, 90 days before the expiration of the 2 year condiitonal green card; holders file for removal of conditions and once removal of conditions is granted, the person is issued a 10 year green card.

I didnt Pay Bride Price.She came all alone and we got engaged bcos i loved her more after seeing one another the first time

Good there was an issue before about having paid bride price. Lagos claimed that they were married because of it.
